Against the rules. Sorry, mang.

I hope that one in the front is mofo, cuz that yawn reminds me of the super evil looking aphex twin cover:

Ha! That's Fickle.

Scrod,

Which shoe do you think would be more comfortable for lengthy city walking: the DZR Minna or the Dice Black?

Scrodzilla 09-09-12 09:45 AM

I've only worn the Minna so I can't really say.

I like the look of the Minna better. The Dice seems nice as the velcro strap would probably help keep laces secure and out of the crank, though. I'm probably going to go with one of these two.

Scrod, does Ritchey make their Pro 30 degree stem in 25.4mm bar clamp form? Or do you know or another nice stem with a steep rise in 25.4mm clamp form?

EDIT: Or is there a way to shim the stems with an open clamp? My current shim would just cover up the opening and look like crap.

I think the Thomson Elite 25.4 stem comes in a +/- 15 degree vesion. /notscrod

Scrodzilla 09-10-12 06:59 AM

The Elite doesn't come in anything anymore, as it's been discontinued by Thomson.

Not sure about the Ritchey.

You can still find them in select sizes fairly easily though. I know Amazon has a pretty good selection with free shipping.

Scrodzilla 09-10-12 07:48 AM

That's all well and good, but there's 15 degrees of difference between the Elite stem and the Ritchey aidandj was asking about.

aidan - the Pro 30 isn't available with a 25.4 clamp. Dimension does make a 30°/25.4 in various lengths, it that helps.

Why can't people refrain from answering questions before I even see them? I've asked you guys nicely about a thousand times.

I apologize. I considered 15 degrees to be a pretty steep rise, which is what he asked for. Was attempting to be helpful. Now I know better...

Scrodzilla 09-10-12 07:57 AM

He clearly asked about a stem with a 30° rise.

Right, and then he asked about any other steep rise stem w/ a 25.4mm clamp. I don't know his exact situation, but I figured a 15 degree stem might be better than no stem.

Regardless, why do you feel the need to attack my post at all. If he didn't find it helpful he surely didn't have to listen. Was it really necessary to make me feel like a moron for trying to help someone?

aidandj 09-10-12 08:24 AM

Thanks guys, Scrod, have you used any dimension products? I had never heard of them before this and am unsure of their quality. They seem pretty cheap.

striknein 09-10-12 08:31 AM

Wasn't aware that was a rule. Once again, was only trying to be helpful...

Scrodzilla 09-10-12 08:43 AM

It's not necessarily a "rule" but come on now. Look at the title of the ****ing thread!

Just as you shouldn't post a picture of your Leader in the 'Kilo TT pics' thread, you shouldn't be answring questions here. Nobody is trying to make you feel like a moron, it's just simple commmon sense.

Dimension stuff is inexpensive but the quality is decent. We sell a ton of their stems. We don't typically stock the 30° rise versions but can get them very easily in black or silver.

Thanks for the info. I found a ritchey -17 degree stem for 60 on amazon in white so I'm going to give that a try, but the dimension is next on the list.

How's the quality of eleven 81 stems? I know they make a 35 degree rise.

Scrodzilla 09-10-12 11:59 AM

Pretty much the same. They're most likely made in the same factory.

8bits 09-10-12 01:03 PM

I know that I'm not Scrod, but you could look into those adjustable rise stems, like this one: http://www.benscycle.net/index.php?m...ducts_id=13379

or a higher grade one like this + shim: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/M...?ModelID=82313

smurray 09-10-12 05:19 PM

Do you recommend I put a 5mm spacer above my stem, even if I have a steel fork and already have the stem as high as is safely recommended (40mm spacers below stem)? Only reason I could see to have that extra 5mm is if I got a stem with a taller stack height, but I'm not sure how many stems out there are taller than the one I already have (Thomson Elite 25.4).
