Aluminum is tricky. If it's not too badly damaged, you may be able to have the threads re-tapped for around 25-30 bucks. If it's beyond repair, you could always use a threadless BB.

This may seem like a dumb question, but do all 1 1/8" headset spacers have the same outer diameter? The ones I have now (some generic brand) are a bit wider than my stem (Thomson Elite 25.4). It's not a huge deal, but I think it looks a bit off. Would love to find spacers that matched the diameter of the stem.

Some girls are bigger than other girls mothers.

Know of any that are known to have a smaller OD?

Dude, they're spacers.

Cane Creek spacers are pretty thin.

I know they're just spacers... I also know the ones I have seem to be thicker in diameter than my stem, which I don't like. Since it doesn't seem like other people have this issue, I was hoping you might know something I don't.

Scrodzilla 09-08-12 04:43 PM

My spacers are a little thicker than my stem too. It doesn't bug me.

FWIW, the Thomson Elite has a very slight clamp diameter. Even the thinnest spacers may end up being too thick.

Mumonkan 09-08-12 05:09 PM

FWIW: not all my spacers match in thickness, and theyre all generally thicker than my stem

if i look closely at it my OCD has a ****fit, but i just try to ignore that theyre there

It's a loong story.

Anyways, we should get back on topic...

Scrod, how many cats do you have?

striknein 09-08-12 09:18 PM

Do you know if it's kosher to cross-post for sale ads in more than one subforum? On some forums it's ok, others it's not.

So I want to put non clipless pedals on my Leader so I can wear normal shoes. Are GR-9's too small? Or should I go with MKS sylvan track?
I wear size 10/10.5 vans.

Woah, back up.

Is that an appletini on the saddle? Absynth? Liquor in the bottle cage?

Just tighten the top cap until there is no more play but the headset still rotates freely. You will be able to tell if it's slightly too tight.

GR-9s should be perfect.
