Hey Scrod. I was wondering, what size seatpost clamps are needed for Leader 722 Heritage Editions?

Assuming it takes a 27.2 post, should be 29.8mm

How do you like your Swift? Very tempted to use one on the Mr Pink occasionally.

Scrodzilla 06-04-13 06:16 AM

Its dimensions are very similar to those of a Turbo - which is one of my favorite saddles. I like it a lot but I recently swapped it out for a Rolls (which is also great).

The Swift is now being saved for the hypothetical vintage Raleigh of my dreams.

Ok, brain dead here and the another guy at my work can't figure it out either, so I am the one that will ask. Order on the front wheel?

1. Axle
2. Ball bearings
3. Cone
4. Small flat washer with ribs
5. Locking nut
6. Fork
7. Washer
8. Nut

---or---

1. Axle
2. Ball bearings
3. Cone
4. Small flat washer with ribs
5. Locking nut
6. Washer
7. Fork
8. Washer
9. Nut

Basically we are trying to decide if the fork goes next to the lock nut by the bearings or dose a washer go in between the fork and the lock nut.

Scrodzilla 06-04-13 11:32 AM

No washer in between the fork and lock nut.

Thanks Scrod :thumb:

I usually find smooth washers between cone and locknut. Don't recall ever seeing a "ribbed" one there.

Well if that hypothetical bike never happens... And you're looking to sell....

How's your back?

Scrodzilla 06-04-13 01:56 PM

A little better today but I know it's going to take a few more days of taking it easy before it's back to "normal".

prooftheory 06-04-13 01:58 PM

Glad you are getting better. It's tough to work when your back hurts.

Dear Scrod:
I'm planning to buy this wheel that'll give me a 46mm chain line(with out the cog).
What bb length should I get for the chain line to be acceptable ? (Leader 722 heritage lo frame)

Considering not all brands of cogs give the exact same chainline, this makes no sense at all.

Spindle length is determined by the crankset being used and has absolutely nothing to do with the frame.

CyclingDaily 06-04-13 03:46 PM

Eai deluxe cog.
Sram omnium with stock bb.
Is 4-8mm of misalignment acceptable ?

Scrodzilla 06-04-13 03:48 PM

Omniums come with a GXP BB and there is no other option as far as spindle length is concerned because the "spindle" is attached to the drive-side crank arm. As someone who already owns Omniums, you should already know that.

What hub are you buying that will produce a 46mm chainline?

CyclingDaily 06-04-13 03:54 PM

It is a no brand Alloy 7075 hub, what can I do to adjust the chain line?
Besides getting a different hub, or a different crankset.

Nothing.

Omniums supposedly give a 45mm chainline to begin with so you may be alright. Aside from that, you're not going to die if your chainline is off by a few mm.

Why don't you put it all together and see what actually happens?

Otto374 06-04-13 06:08 PM

Is there hatred for fixed gear bikes from geared bike riders? Only reason I ask is I have started just going out riding in the evening when everyone else is out riding (geared riders with their jumpsuits and helmets) and as I pass I will give a friendly nod and 90% of the time they just look and keep riding.

Coming from the motorized 2 wheel world kinda like the harleys guys dont wave to the street bike guys and vise versa.

Scrodzilla 06-04-13 06:11 PM

I'm sure it may be different from place to place but around here 99% of roadies are total dicks. I don't even bother acknowledging them anymore.

Mumonkan 06-04-13 06:39 PM

a lot of time roadies are digging deep to get those prs on the hill to starbucks too, cant nod dont want to.

i usually just nod if im nodded to, i stopped trying to be super nice to everyone a while ago
