Can you tell me the name of a light aluminum frame with ability to mount a rear brake?

Scrodzilla 05-30-13 10:01 AM

It seems like a really nice bike but I have absolutely no experience with it to base an actual opinion.

Humenbean 05-30-13 10:25 AM

Hey Scrod,

Should I use some tri-flow in the threads before I put my cog back on? There is a little lube on a new wheel I picked up, but want to make sure my cog is on tight, but will come off easily. The last time I had to take it off was a beast.

Scrodzilla 05-30-13 10:28 AM

No, use grease.

Humenbean 05-30-13 10:28 AM

Thank you very much.

CyclingDaily 05-30-13 11:03 AM

Ah, I understand now !

CyclingDaily 05-30-13 11:24 AM

Scrod: What are your opinions on the FSA track pro chainring and the sugino ZEN chainring, is the ZEN noticeably more stiff compared to the FSA?
And about the brake levers on the retro-gression website, if I send you a picture of my old brake setup will you be able to tell me if the levers are compatible without having to change the brake cable? I'm not too familiar with brakes.
Which tires last longer with skidding and less prone to flats gatorskin or the ribmo ?

Are you really concerned with flexing a chainring while riding on rollers?

Sure.

Both.

CyclingDaily 05-30-13 02:01 PM

Haha, I still ride on the streets, I don't want to ride the T1 around too much.
Okay I'll send you the picture, answer the chainring question !

Scrodzilla 05-30-13 02:05 PM

According to their overall design, Zen chainrings are machined to be among the stiffest, roundest, smoothest track chainrings in the world.

I hope this worked.

CyclingDaily 05-30-13 02:14 PM

If it matters at all my brakes are dia-compe BRS 101

Scrodzilla 05-30-13 02:35 PM

Which levers are you talking about?

CyclingDaily 05-30-13 02:39 PM

Tektro RL series.

Scrodzilla 05-30-13 02:52 PM

You can use those cables but it will be better if you use road cables with a smaller end.

CyclingDaily 05-30-13 03:24 PM

Right on! I'll be ordering those along with a chainring

SiqBird 05-30-13 05:07 PM

What's your opinion on Omniums? I'm considering a Dura Ace crankset. Any pros or cons between the two?

Scrodzilla 05-30-13 05:09 PM

Omniums are a great crankset but personally, I don't like them very much. GXP can suck it.

TijmenK 05-31-13 03:45 AM

I just won a Level Super Professional frameset with Hatta BB and Headset. And I suppose I have to build it up now, what would be absolute minimum I'd have to spend? And what would you suggest for parts?

Scrodzilla 05-31-13 06:08 AM

I don't have a crystal ball and I'm not going to do your NJS shopping for you.

AristoNYC 05-31-13 06:30 AM

Hey dude,
I have been getting pavement contact when taking turns on my SE Premium Brew (61cm). Not sure what the crank arm length is. Pedals are MKS track that I got from you w/ some all city cages. Anything I can do to make sure I don't slide out (almost happened a few times from hitting the side of the pedal on the pavement).
Is this a common problem with fixed vs geared since you can't coast through a turn or is there something I can do?

Thanks for the help.

Scrodzilla 05-31-13 06:50 AM

The Premium Brew frame has road geometry and a low BB. When I had mine, it's the only fixed gear bike I've ever had pedal strike on (even using 165mm cranks). All I can really advise is to stay conscious of it while cornering.

AristoNYC 05-31-13 06:57 AM

Thanks, I guess I can't turn as aggressively at high speeds as I would like.

Minimum a 1000 probably won't be enough if you want full njs build.

Hey Scrod. I was wondering, what size seatpost clamps are needed for Leader 722 Heritage Editions?
