They've been available for a a while now but they're pretty tricky to come by. We currently have two 23s in stock.

Read the first post.

Hey Scrod,

Wanting to get my first fixed gear, I went to the friendly LBS around the block. I told them my budget for the bike was $500 max. They offered a Retrospec, which I rode around for an hour or so. Asking what else they could put together, when I mentioned chromoly they offered a Surly or Jamis, way over budget.

I decided to get a KiloTT. Following up I've gone back to the LBS and spent almost a couple hundred $$ on accessories and such. Can I stop feeling guilty now for buying from the interwebs?

Yes.

So i searched google but couldn't find a definitive answer, will Omniums fit on a Pake rum runner?

Scrodzilla 12-04-12 07:33 AM

Without any trouble.

GENESTARWIND 12-04-12 07:56 AM

scrod ive been looking at various 1" threaded headsets and i was wondering what you would choose in terms of decent price, performance/durable, looks.
i noticed you carry two tange headsets, what about ritchey, velo, fsa? or others that fall into the category of less than 100$.

im not looking at price matching if that means anything

Scrodzilla 12-04-12 08:23 AM

Sealed bearing or caged?

GENESTARWIND 12-04-12 08:41 AM

bah ill be honest i didnt look into that part :| whatever youd recommend really. you know your **** so. it would be for my daily, would take abuse.

IthaDan 12-04-12 08:52 AM

$100 buys you a hell of a headset. You could probably find a NOS mavic headset for that kind of money. What size is your crown race? How much (what's the minimum/maximum) stack height do you need?

If you want a problem-free cartridge bearing headset without spending a ton of money, the Tange Technoglide comes in 1" threaded.

And yeah, as Dan just rudely stated before I could answer (why don't you guys get it yet?), there are other factors to take into account when choosing a threaded headset.

Because who ****ing cares, that's why?

A thread like this should be to provide quick answers so as to not clutter up the first page with resolved three reply threads rather than stroke a mod's ego. A "little questions" thread would be ideal.

First of all, I'm no longer a moderator.

Secondly, the entire forum is for what you're suggesting - along with a new thread for general quick answers. This thread, on the other hand, is where people ask me specific questions, just as the 'Dear Carleton' thread is for asking him specific questions. If you don't like it, there are a lot of other threads here for you to hang out in.

Should I forward all my e-mail to you so you can answer it too?

Sticky that mofo!

LeaderOne 12-04-12 10:35 AM

Got Omniums from your shop when you had them on sale, just wanna say thanks for the great deal!

Now my question: I'm building a 722ts. The BB shell has been chased/faced, BB installed to spec, mavic open pro/formulas are on their way... should I expect any chain line/spacing issues when I go to set it up? Can't seem to find a clear consensus... some say you need spacers, some say no.

Scrodzilla 12-04-12 10:42 AM

There's no need to use spacers on the stock Omnium GXP BB in a 68mm shell - ever (despite what bull**** you read on the internet). In fact, using spacers on either side will cause the non drive-side crank arm to not bottom out on the spindle properly when installed and in some cases, cause the crank arm to actually make contact with the bearing cup.

You shouldn't have any trouble with chainline.

Thanks :thumb: can't wait to have her rolling this weekend : ]

Mumonkan 12-04-12 11:06 AM

Good sir, whats a decent set of "regular" fenders i can put on my rainy beater bike (that actually has eyelets)

*regular meaning not racey that actually screw on

Scrodzilla 12-04-12 11:11 AM

I have a set of these on my Raleigh and they do the job.

Nagrom_ 12-04-12 05:08 PM

What kind of bikes do cops ride?

Do they all ride the same thing, or is there any choice?

I vaguely remember you talking about having a relationship with bike cops in your area.

Scrodzilla 12-04-12 05:12 PM

The ones here ride Raleighs.

Quite a few manufacturers make 'Police edition' bikes. Fuji, for example:
