i tried stripping my Sram s100's with aircraft remover and that didn't make a dent on the coating. Any ideas? I've used that to remove powder coat, paint, etc!!!!

Oven cleaner. Use gloves or you will get chemical burns. I'm honestly surprised they sell this **** in stores. Don't get the citrus crap.

This is assuming it's anodized and not painted, which is a solid assumption knowing aircraft stripper didn't work.

Random question I probably should have asked yesterday before I rode:

Do you have to take any different steps with a carbon fork in regards to tightening the bolts? I've never had anything carbon before so I just feel like it's fragile and I'm going to "hurt" it.

Are you asking about installing a stem on a carbon steerer? If so, use carbon paste and use slightly less torque than recommended for the stem you're using.

I meant installing the front wheel and tightening the axle nuts.

Oh, that's an easy one. Keep them just tight enough that your wheel doesn't fall off, as you would with any fork. Front axle nuts don't need to be ham-fisted.

for anodized parts I use: Greased Lightning 32 oz. Super Strength Multi-Purpose Cleaner and Degreaser-30101GRL at The Home Depot

Put it in a plastic bucket and let it sit, make sure to watch it as you don't want it to begin to eat away at the metal, just the color.

what size seat binder does the leader 722 use, mine stripped.

I believe it's 19mm but I can measure the one on Angie's bike at the shop tomorrow to be sure.

I've never tried but I hear aircraft stripper will remove powdercoat as well as paint.

Hey Scrod. You mentioned in the today I thread that there was a new 2014 Soma Rush that is killer. Were you just messing with us or is there really something new on the horizon ?

I used Easy Off because that's what the CVS in back of my house had, I would imagine any regular oven cleaner that's not that citrus type will do. For powdercoat use aircraft remover that you can get from an auto parts store or a Home Depot.
