Ah, thanks! Didn't see that. So no Canadian Visas then. Makes my decision easier.

What do you think of the Marin Dominican? Marin Bikes | Dominican | Mountain Bikes, Road Bikes, and City/Commuter Bicycles | ww
I'm trying to decided between a Windsor the Hour and the Marin Dominican for my first bike. I'm in Winnipeg, Canada and it would cost me around $300 to get the Hour off bikeisland but a LBS has the Dominican on sale for $345. I checked out the specs on the website and it seems like its components are at least on par with the Hour's. I'm not sure about the geometry though. I'm leaning towards the Dominican right now because the extra $45 seems worth it since this is my first bike and I'd be almost guaranteed the right fit if I were to buy it from the LBS. I tried researching the Dominican on here and pedalroom. Doesn't seem like there's a lot of information out there on it. Those dropouts are very common and are used on quite a few frames (the Leader 722TS, Heritage Edition and Heritage LO are more examples).
I don't know anything about that Marin bike so it's hard for me to give an actual opinion of it. It doesn't look too bad for the price though. |
Hey Scrod or others, your thoughts on Phil Wood Cranks? (minus price I know they are costly)
|
They're ****ing hideous.
(They're also made of meat.) |
Hey Scrod,
Is it jackass to put Araya+Suzue Pro Max wheels together with a bike that's all Italian with Campy and Cinelli? If it is I dunt care. |
What spokes are you planning to use to lace up your NOS campy & mavic wheelset for your raliegh?

Wheelsmith DB14, simply because I like working with them the most. They should be built by the end of this week.
And out of curios, are you going to do a radial front & 3-cross back? |
Nope, 3X for both.

Then why ask? ;)
Actually, yeah, financial crisis. I can get Japanese now, or Italian later. |
I don't think there's anything wrong with it. If it were me though, I'd wait to do it right.
What frame are we talking about here? |

How often should you true your wheels?

The Beverly/Salem area is beautiful during the winter and I miss seeing snow but I definitely don't miss dealing with it or freezing my ass off.

Wouldn't you agree that properly built wheels never have to be (re)trued. At least, that's been my experience.
Also, he didn't say anything about how well the wheel was built or what type of riding he's doing on said wheel. He could be dirt jumping or riding downhill for all we know. |

They're ****ing awesome! The tiny little red logo will really tie your whoke bike together! You should buy two, just in case they change the color of the logo!
Is that what you want to hear? |

Does Phil Wood make good products? Of course they do (except for their cogs) but personally, I would never spend that much money on an ugly, overpriced crankset just because it had the right color logo.
|
Which handlebars did you put on your raleigh budget bike? Love them and the build!
|
If you mean this bike, they were just some bars I found in the trash.

Yes but if you go around jumping off things and smashing potholes regularly, even the best-built wheel will need some attention now and again.
