On a front I really don't think it will matter much. How much do you weigh?

ChnaCat 02-04-13 05:26 PM

About 165 lbs

Scrodzilla 02-04-13 05:37 PM

You should be ok. Hopefully the person who built it knew what they were doing or it might be a ***** to keep true.

What size usps box do you usually use to ship drop bars? Just sold a set on eBay and I have no idea what option to pick from the shipping label menu...

Scrodzilla 02-05-13 09:45 AM

We don't use UPS boxes. We order boxes that measure 18x8x6 in bulk.

So back to the Novatec hubs I effed up. What bearings would I need to get, and they're not hard to replace right?

hj.paul7 02-06-13 04:25 PM

Scrod, I really can't find much on tire clearance for the 2012 Leader 735. Can it fit 28c? To be extra specific, a gatorskin 28c, and soma everwear 28c.

Probably.

Scrod, any ideas what would cause pain in the shins while riding, it's similar to shin splints? It only happens when I work up to a decent RPM. 46/17 gearing, no hills, no mashing.

Scrodzilla 02-06-13 07:11 PM

I have no idea, man. Carleton would be the one to ask - but he's currently on his way to Portland to become Super Hipster.

Damn, alright.

Squeaking every 2 pedal revolutions from somewhere down low, not my shoes

chain?

yonderb0y 02-07-13 10:18 AM

Any thoughts on the Leader Cyclone hubs? Or the Leader X Alex wheelset that's built with them?

The hubs look nicer than they are and that wheelset weighs a ton.

Yeah its quite strange, it only happens when im on the bike too, i cant replicate it when its on a stand or anything

the whole drivetrain is ancient, the chain is probably original 1987

FakeFuji 02-07-13 11:45 AM

Bad link?

What bike are we talking about here? If it's a geared bike, old derailleurs can be extremely squeaky. Lube up all the pivot points and moving parts with a drop of Tri-Flow or something similar. No WD-40.

Does it happen while you're standing up and pedaling or only when you're seated?

Its the old fuji, its running singlespeed now but i have the original back wheel on with the whole casette freewheel

it happens both standing or seated

i lubed all the moving parts after cleaning it up a bit and its still happening

its really not a big deal just one of those things i have to understand

Nevermind.

I'm going to take a shot in the dark since mechanics seem fine and vote for shoe rubbing crank arm. I had this problem with my work shoes, it eventually rubbed off most of the logo on my crank arm. I didn't even feel the shoe rub the crank and yet it was.

revolator 02-08-13 10:28 AM

My guess is the chain. If there is a problem with a link, it will occur about every 2 revolutions.

GENESTARWIND 02-08-13 11:13 AM

scrod im going to be buying problem solvers soon but they dont come with the bolts. where would i source some of these? the ones that came with my shifters wont work.

hairnet 02-08-13 11:21 AM

New without the bolts?

It didn't occur to you that the chain might be the issue? Replace it.

Yeah, they don't come with bolts. Go to a hardware store and buy some.

I have some old 7600 DA cranks, research shows they need a 109mm BB... How bad is it to use a 110mm?

EDIT: Nvm, sources say to go with the 109 and use a 2mm spacer.

From what I've read, the 7600 are NJS, but work with an ISO BB? In that case will the 109mm Prototype work?
