The original "Columbus" headset is just a re-branded FSA C-40.

Good to know, thanks Scrod.

Thoughts on new state undefeated 2? Interested in buying one

Scrodzilla 07-24-16 08:44 PM

All Sate bikes are overpriced for what they are.

Swinny145123 07-25-16 03:18 PM

So, the new undefeated 2 wouldnt be worth my 880 $? Can you think of a similar build that is more high quality for that price?

Just go to your local mexican joint and order one, when they ask what size, point to the barrel ;)

Hey Scrod,

I saw on your Instagram that there's a new Heavy Pedal Zephyr with a tapered head tube. Does this mean that we've seen the last of the retro model with the threaded steel fork ?

Scrodzilla 07-31-16 11:55 AM

Both 1 1/8"-1.5" tapered and 1" threaded versions will be available in the monochrome colorway.

primo123 07-31-16 06:39 PM

What cassette tool do I need to remove cassette on an exage sport hub?

Scrodzilla 08-01-16 07:59 AM

Either the Park FR-5 or FR-5G will remove most modern cassettes from any hub.

Unkle Rico 08-01-16 07:09 PM

Thats killer :thumb:

Hi Scrodd,

How would I be able to get a replacement fork for a 2010 Schwinn Madison? I cant put a normal fork on, it would not look right!

Scrodzilla 08-02-16 08:15 AM

Schwinn never sold the forks alone so unless you happen to find one used on eBay or wherever, you're **** out of luck!

sponno 08-02-16 09:52 AM

Hi, Thank you for answering.

Well I'm in the UK and I have not seen one in @ 6 months so I guess I will have to get a similar looking set (plain ones would not look right). Any suggestions? (my model pictured below).

Several questions:
Do you have a shop employee named Todd?
If not when do you plan on hiring one?
When you have hired them you should make Scrod and Todd stickers ala The Simpsons. It would be hilarious and people would buy that shizzzzz. My guess is those Ralpha jonxes on the Radavist went real fast because I can't done find them anytwhere.

TejanoTrackie 08-03-16 06:34 PM

Hey Scrod,

What is KRAV MAGA ?

Scrodzilla 08-03-16 06:38 PM

Israeli self-defense.

Gran Compe track hubs vs Origin8 formula as sold by velomine on many of their wheelsets?

Scrodzilla 08-03-16 10:12 PM

Gran Compe hubs are much nicer than Formula.

applesoggy 08-06-16 06:26 PM

Thanks man, probably going to go for your H+Son Archetypes or tb14s with gran Compe vs velomine/formula hubs

Hi Scrod,

So I took a flyer and purchased a Dengfu Carbon fork for my Aventon Mataro. It was delivered today. Is it even usable? It has two holes toward the bottom of the fork on the inside. I emailed Denfgu but not holding my breath for a response. Is this fork safe to use?

Those are vent holes to prevent the fork from filling with hot air and exploding when it was molded.

Great! I was worried. Can't wait to put in on now. Thanks for the quick response!

I am in the planning/researching phase of building up a new bike. I've decided to go with a freewheel and a front brake on this one. Gasp-the horror.

So after lots of reading and trying to ejumakate myself on freewheels, it sure seems like the White Industries jobs are the way to go. Actually it seems like there is nothing out there that even compares. I've emailed them with a few questions about chain line etc., but I do have one question for you.

Your site says "• colors: 16t is red, 17-23t are blue". Is that a typo or do you have some stock from a previous run from the factory? I ask because WI states the opposite, but I'd rather have a 19 in blue as you describe.

Now that I'm here, and forgot to ask them, are their lock rings available separately?

TejanoTrackie 08-14-16 03:02 PM

Pending Scrod's official reply, I'm pretty certain it's a typo. I have a WI ENO 19T freewheel and it's definitely red.

Also, why do you need a lockring ? It's only needed for a fixed cog, and not required for a freewheel.

Also, if you are running a freewheel, then you also need a rear brake.

I'm using their terminology. It's the ring that holds the inner drive and the outer gear case together. They call it a locking ring. I knew that might appear confusing. I'd actually prefer black or silver since the bike is going to be neither blue nor red.

Belt and suspenders, just in case, I know, I know. At my speeds and environment I'm gonna risk it.

Scrodzilla 08-14-16 04:20 PM

Yeah, that's a typo. 16t is blue, others are red. As far as I know, White Industries does not make a black anodized locking ring. However, I don't work for WI so you may be better off contacting them and asking.

Does it really matter what color a small part of your freewheel is, though?

Seriously? The bike will be slow and handle like **** with a clashing component. My bikes are hard core and I am a very serious guy. I don't want to look like a clown out there. Oh wait...too late for that.
