If the cups are in decent shape, you can keep them and just find a spindle that works for your chosen crank. That's what I did for my daughter's frankenbike:

Hey Scrod,

Lately I've been paranoid that my rear wheel isn't perfectly straight in the dropout. This is important for chain-line and general smooth rolling obviously.

I line it up with seat tube and that's that for now.

Is there a way to verify if my seat stays and drop outs are straight and kosher? This is something that would be useful when buying a new frame obviously. I know that a little imperfection is likely and the stays compress when you tighten the axle nuts. I also ever so lightly tightened up the cone nuts/lock nuts on both sides of the rear hub with cone wrenches and eye balled the axle of the hub to make sure its even.

I guess i'm just interested if you eyeball it or if there is an effective way to measure to see how proportioned the rear triangle of a bike is built.

Some bike shops have tools that measure whether or not everything on your frame is centered and straight.

There's more to centering a wheel than making sure the axle is even on both sides. A wheel sitting off-center in a frame will most likely need to be re-dished to center the rim on the hub.

Would it be looked down upon if I get a sugeno zen chainring and use my stock SRAM s100 crank arms, and stock BB? Would it be like "polishing a turd"?

Or should I opt for the cheaper FSA Pro Track chainring instead since I can't afford a full BB/crankset upgrade.

The H+Son Formula wheelset. I've read that the formula hub is more of an entry level hub and is not worth the money. But, it has to be better than my stock state deep-v wheels and no name hub, no?

I just commute, and enjoyment rides. No track for me (yet).

Neither one of those chainrings will work on your crankset because the Sram S100 is 130 bcd and proper track chainrings are 144 bcd.

Formula hubs are totally fine. The bearings may eventually crap out (like any sealed cartridge bearing hub) and can be easily replaced so that's a non-issue.

I have an EAI Delux cog that says ISO on it.

I got a Dura Ace 7600 Track hub that Shimano claims is 1.370 x 24tpi.

You would think that the former would thread easily onto the latter.... But nooooo.... It goes on about a 3/4 of a turn and tightens up like it's not the right size.

Should I encourage it with a bit of force or is something wrong here? It is not cross threaded. It turns on easily and squarely.

Alright, after playing musical cogs with 3 different cogs and 2 different hubs, I decided the threading matched and gently encouraged it on.

I took it back off, look at everything and it's all fine. It went back on easier the 2nd time.

I think it is just tight because the plating on the EAI cog is also on the threads.

Heavy Pedal is expecting a regular restock soon but as of right now, we are able to custom order them directly from the factory.

We just ordered this set w/ custom yellow decals and a front braking surface for a local customer and they took about 3 weeks to get here from the factory.

I can't go into detail on a forum but they're better rims than most people think.

We're testing and dialing in the back end of our shipping program and putting the finishing touches on some of the design/functionality stuff now. Because we've been dealing with the new site so often, I can't even look at our current site. It's a decent enough site but the new one will be much, much better with a lot more product, better features and will be easier for everyone to use (including us on this end).

We wanted to have it up & running by now but there were a lot of bugs to work out, mostly on the shipping side of things. I'd love to be able to tell everyone a specific date it will launch but there have been so many small setbacks already, it's hard to say. We're trying to get it all done as soon as possible. Worst case scenario is that we'll start the new year with an awesome new site.

I am really interested in the look ac 364 frame available on your site. Looks website states (dropouts: aluminum).

Would this become a problem, if the bike was to be used over a long period of time vs steel dropout? I.e. Being able to withstand years of axle nut crimping/loosening/tightening.

Also, any cons to the frame? I recall your for sale thread stating the jackassery is what prompted the sale. Comfort? paint quality? lugs? Overall worth the hefty price?

Once again, very interested in the frame. No dealers in my area who carry one for me to oogle and put my fingers all over :p

Not Scrod, but--there's no way the AC 364 has aluminum dropouts. It's a steel track frame and has steel track ends.

Yeah, the Look site is wrong. Their site also shows it having two sets of bottle mounts. :lol:

I really only sold mine because I wanted something a little less flashy that I could throw townie bars and a basket on from time to time. (like the Bare Knuckle I have now). A basket on a Look is what seemed like jackassery, not the frame itself.

I loved the frame and it's super nice, just not really my cup of tea. Be sure to triple check the geo charts because the sizing is a little wacky!

Woooo, I couldn't wrap my head around the idea of 1k for a tange frame with aluminum dropouts.. Glad that's cleared up.
