Whenever I see someone struggling with quitting smoking, I really don't understand. All it takes is some discipline.

I think the same thing and it pisses me off sometimes that my bro won't quit. I say won't and not can't because I know he can, he just doesn't want to. The social aspect of it is stupid too, he'll just be sitting there at a party not even thinking about cigs and someone will ask him "Wanna smoke?" and I'll see him hesitate for the briefest instant before agreeing. I KNOW he doesn't want to smoke, but he just does because one of his friends wants to.

any recommendations on lightweight wheelsets, fairly low profile rims? I was looking at the black open pros on velomine but $250 to walk away with origin8 branded hubs seems :|

I've been smoking for eleven years, and I know I need to quit, but I don't want to. Stress relief.

Dave, is the Flite around the same width as a stock Kilo TT saddle? I remember the first day I rode on it, my ass was sore for three days. I quickly switched it for a B17 and Turbo, which are considered wider.

Hairnet made me paranoid about dropping $100+ on a saddle that might be too narrow for my ass.

I never even sat on my stock Kilo saddle so I have no idea.

I had a Flite on my Kagero for a spell and after this weekend's 50 mile leisure ride, I decided it's back to my trusty (and very comfortable) Turbo. The rear of the saddle measures just about as wide as the Turbo - yet contoured a bit differently - and the shape just didn't work for me, even with padded liners beneath my shorts. It's too bad because the Flite is a nice saddle and I really wanted to like it.

are Tektro R320 caliper the same brakes as the bikedirect ones? looking to get a similar setup as angie's on this and wondering if I'm going to need a shim with those economy brakes from bikeisland or if they're gtg for chargers and/or leader bars

You'll need to shim the lever. Just about all risers have a diameter of 22.2 near the grip area.

1000g/1060g for front/rear isn't exactly "light". The black Sun M13/Formula wheelset will weigh pretty close to the same and is a lot less money.

Maybe build some KinLins?

The Wabi wheelset is lightweight, good quality, moderately priced and well built >>> http://www.wabicycles.com/GXwheels.html

Scrodzilla 11-29-11 09:20 AM

I always forget about the Wabi wheels. Thanks TT!

PlattsVegas 11-29-11 01:08 PM

I personally love my Wabi wheelset. A year and a half with no problems, and I beat the crap out of my rims.

homebrewk 11-29-11 01:33 PM

Do Nitto Noodles provide a large enough space on the "elbows" to rest your hands comfortably... even without hoods?

hamfoh 11-29-11 02:22 PM

I always forget about Wabi too! Damn those flakes ruining a group buy of non machined kinlins!

Assuming you had the time, what would you charge to have a build kit... built. I'm not ready to get into wheelbuilding just yet and so it's either have you or have the guy here build them for me, if I go that route

Yes.

30 bucks per wheel.

hamfoh 11-29-11 03:24 PM

cool cool!

do you have any idea what the standard velomine deep V wheelset weighs? with its formula hubs / DT spokes, I think you or Angie used to have a set? I was trying to find the weight and came across a thread that said deep Vs tend to weigh a bit more than they're listed at. I'm just trying to figure out how much weight I'd be dropping with a shallow kinlin or wabi set

J.Wolfe 11-29-11 03:26 PM

silver or gold bike chain? im thinking silver

In my experience, Deep V rims (by themselves) weigh a little less than published weights. I'm not sure what a typical set of Deep V/Formula/straight-gauge spokes weighs but they're definitely not light.

I'm back with my headset :( sorry.

What is going on here? Am I doing something wrong or is this thing toast? After installing this stem I can't seem to get the headset/steerer tube right..

Scrodzilla 11-29-11 09:58 PM

I don't even know what's going on there. All you need to do is tighten your top cap so there's no play in your headset, then tighten your stem to your steerer. Is your steerer too long or something?

If the steerer is flush with the top of the stem, you may need one more thin headset spacer. There needs to be a bit of a space from the top of the stem to the top of ther steerer on the fork, 2mm at most.

byrnemm 11-29-11 10:07 PM

Right now its flush, but I'll try adding one more spacer. The stem bolts are loosened, but tightening the top cap isn't removing the play. The fork feels ready to pop out.

Dannihilator 11-29-11 10:09 PM

Add a spacer on it and try again I'm very sure it will work.

UCF Eric 11-29-11 10:21 PM

Scrod, how do you like the FSA headset on your 722, I've got one on the way and need to pick up a headset.
