Off the idea of "can i get this bike under 20 lbs," Do you think it would be possible to get my bike under 20 lbs? It sits at 21 1/2ish lbs right now. If I were to tackle that extra 700 grams, what's the best place to go? My parts are all listed on my pedalroom (link in sig). My first guess would be fork, then crankset, then seat post. I'd probably scrounge eBay for parts since I'm sure buying new would be unnecessarily expensive.

what would it do for you besides making your wallet lighter? You can replace those parts but you will have a more noticeable improvement in your ride if you take that money and get some nice light tires.

I plan on getting a new frame in the next year so I'm stocking up on better components in the meantime. Although 1.5 lbs wouldn't be a big percentage of the weight on an old cromo bike, it's parts I'll have to buy eventually and when they're on something nicer and hopefully lighter it will make a bigger difference. Btw I have serfas seca rss on it right now which are probably as light as I can go and still keep them reliable on flat-hazard streets. iirc they're about 230g apiece

what frames are you looking at?

I don't have anything specific yet but I'm looking for something aluminum with track geometry and good build quality in the $500 range. Two that peak my interests ATM are the leader kagero (if they lower the price or i can find one used) or the cannondale track. I like the looks of thinner tubing on both.

Your frame is drilled for a brake. That's all you need.

andrizzy - I really dig Knog Boomer USBs. I've heard complaints about how water affects them but I've gotten them wet quite a few times and they're still good as new.

Thanks for the confirmation Scrod. I checked Google Images a few minutes after posting and saw that people made them work so I figured I'd delete the post haha.

No prob. Get a lever with a 26mm clamp if you want it next to the stem (on the thicker part). Otherwise, get a 24mm clamp.
