When I first came to Cali, everyone was so surprised I had never had In n Out, so we stopped there during our road trip back to Oregon last year.
#1 most disappointing meal I have ever had. You people are crazy. |
I don't eat red meat any more for certain reasons, but In n Out isn't great as far as GOOD burgers go. They probably hold my vote for #1 fast food burger though. Hudsons just celebrated their 100th year anniversary in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. It is by far the best burger I've had. Just burgers and pies. Nope no fries. Don't dare ask for ketchup either, unless you like receiving mean looks from the cooks, who are a couple feet from the bar stool you're sitting on. As soon as you're finishing up the first burger and wishing you were only half way done with the meal, the server (or burger bartender), asks if you'd like another. You can't say no, just too damn good. The place is always packed, and you wait for individual seating. No family joint folks, the true in-n-out experience sent from heaven.
God, I'm drooling, thanks guys... |

Also Don Carlos was killer, but then again I'm from New England so all your Mexican food was amazing to me. I loved la jolla... |

What I'm planning to get:
4x2 protein & animal & triple x (extra lettuce, tomato, raw onions) style w/ chopped peppers, extra spread; animal fries w/ extra spread, vanilla shake. My wife and the high school cashiers are going to be going to say "gosh" for sure at the register. Packing down carbs for tomorrow.

Leuks you ever been to The Whisk & Ladle in La Jolla? I had a birthday dinner there two years ago that was the shizbang.
On the other note, you can't go wrong with Mexican food in San Diego in general; seriously. But if you want some carne asada fries to die for Lolitas in kearney mesa is the place to be cheap and the proportion is ridiculously generous.

Hmmm, In-N-Out ain't mindblowing but they're definitely some quality fast food burgers and fries. What was wrong with them, PA?
I'm a 5 Guys guy myself now, however. That's the goods. |

I was supposed to go on a 20 mile bike ride,to Pannikin coffee shop in Encinitas, but last night's dinner did me in. Did not wake up to 8:30 had to be on the road by 630, just did not happen. I found this little Japanese restaurant in downtown San Diego with awesome food and good sake, I couldn't be more happy!!

They just got here last year. They're from the east coast and totally blew up when Obama ate there or something like that.
There's a 5 Guys next to my old recruiting station that's been there for as long as I can remember. EDIT: Well, at least, as of 2 years ago, so it could be pretty recent. I'm a derp. |
Farewell to Burlington meal... crazy good chicken and waffles at Duino Duende.
