Good question, scientific studies will be carried out to determine the answer to this age old question. As soon as I can find a pissed off cat.

Fugazi Dave 02-18-05 12:11 PM

All you need is a regular cat to start with. Put it in the bag and it'll be pissed. Trust me.

polytoxic 02-18-05 12:34 PM

I will have to say that the two cats I used to be father to would actually sit in the bag if I actually ever attempted it when I still lived with their "mother" in detriot. Damn custody battles!

mcatano 02-18-05 01:07 PM

My roommate's cat, Elliot, will take any opportunity he can to climb into my bags. If I leave one on the floor with nothing in it, he makes a beeline for it and hunkers down. Friggin' adorable!

Without sounding too effeminant, that is freaking adorable!

I miss my children.

mcatano 02-18-05 01:14 PM

On the subject of adorable cats, I present THIS!

My cats love bags too. And boxes - basically anything that's cave-like or enveloping, they're in it.

glowingrod 02-18-05 01:27 PM

Once long ago one of my cats urinated in my roomies timbuk (i presume she was mad at him and the bag smelled more like him thatn anything else) Both ready for work next morning he (wearing the bag) and I walked around the apartment for several minutes trying to determine the location of the offending odour before discovering it in the bag, the liner kept in the bag and off his clothes so he didnt have to change but his radio, waybills, a t-shirt, tools and tube and a magazine he just bought were comletely saturated. He washed the radio tools and tube in the sink, got an old bag and left late but he was PISSED, which i presume was my kitties intention :D

Same damned thing happened to me! After several washes, it still stunk! I had to throw that bag away.

sorry to revive this thread, but I just got my reload bag in the mail today. it's stellar -- couldn't ask for better. the thing is totally and utterly massive (courier model) relative to my skinny body, but even with some minimal wraparound, the thing stayed on my back fine while riding with no slide whatsoever. I was quite worried about that, but it seems fine -- at least in my winter gear. i can probably fit a couple of infants and some malt liquor in it, which is really all that matters, anyway.

highly recommended combination for sure...glad you like it.

crazyjohnson 02-22-05 09:05 PM

How about some pics, please?

Are these infants alive, dead, or intoxicated on said malt liquor. Cuz I gotta know! These things are important!

Speaking of Huge I just got my Chrome Kremlin and man this thing is big
I have a citizen that I love but found myself running out of room on my commutes into work. I know I take too much crap with me everyday but I need it all and sometimes I will hit a few stores or the market on my way home and the citizen was just not cutting it. Well I decided on the Kremlin figuring that it would be big enough well this thing is ****ing huge. I am loving it. I can fit a few small people in here and still have room to spare. No more worries hauling things on my bike. The only thing is I am a small dude 5’8” around a 150 and the bag looks gigantic on me. I can not wait to fill it up and have people look at me funny as I am climbing up the hills around here in the morning :-). The bag is awesome!!!

good to hear about the large model working for you. I ordered a Courier and I've been worrying the same.

Do you recall when you ordered?

shants 02-22-05 10:54 PM

it was a while ago. ellie told me that it'd be around 5 weeks from when i arranged the payment and confirmed the order and i believe it was right around then (maybe a few days longer) when i got it. you do t he math. i imagine that the wait was largely due to a post-holidays influx of orders, so it may not take as long now -- that's just speculation, though.

for crazyjohnson -- here are some pictures of the bag. sorry about them being horribly dark/blurry -- my apartment has the worst lighting ever and the flash on my camera is dubious at best. i left out the infants and malt liquor. i like ugly color combinations.

i ordered my (custom) bag from reload on the third, and it shipped on the 18th. i'm awaiting delivery tomorrow or the next day. ellie told me 4-5 weeks, talk about great service...how often do you get something in half of the promised time?

adamkell 02-22-05 11:01 PM

i got confirmation on my order jan. 6, was told 5-6 weeks. I emailed Ellie the other day but haven't heard back.

iamjberube 02-22-05 11:03 PM

you'll get an e-mail confirmation saying that your card was charged and then one from ups when they ship it.

shants 02-22-05 11:13 PM

adamkell -- i never had much luck with emails... if you are able to call long distance (at work or something) i would recommend calling -- i got her on the first try both times when i called in.

oh, just fyi -- mine is a courier model with 3d pockets and a reinforced cordura base (i wanted to keep the base as light blue, so i didn't go with the nylon insanity). the custom work was that I had the right 3d pocket made orange and that i had the strap done in midnight blue with orange trim. i really wanted to get some panelwork done but i couldn't -- after a bloody month -- come up with anything that i was 100% sure about. i'll probably just end up putting the my patch du jour on with some safety pins or some crap. i can change my mind whenever i want that way. not as slick, but oh well.

crazyjohnson 02-23-05 08:00 AM

Hey, man, thanks for the photos. Everyone around here is getting all this cool stuff but it is kind of meaningless if I dont get to see it ;).

Anyway, would you all suggest getting the extra base layer - does the base really wear out that quick that you need another layer?

my last good bag the bottom wore out in its final years... reenforcement is probably a placebo, though. mmm, placebo.

My "Bagjack" from Berlin. As you can see, i could put a dog (or two) in it.

crazyjohnson 02-23-05 12:12 PM

I have been sold on ReLoad for a while (a courier with a few add-ons) but I just took a look at the Push The Envelope classic. For $120 you get a lot of pockets both inside and outside and a padded strap - all standard - all that would cost a lot more on the ReLoad. Anyone have any experience with them? They look nice.
