I checked out the site - if you select the differences between the courier and deluxe as add-ons to the courier, it also adds up to $60 (no surprise there) but since you like the sound of the straps and nylon bottom, you could get it without the 3D pockets (courier w/ just the straps/bottom) and you have a $30 difference instead of $60. Just a thought.

reload's deluxe has 3d pockets as far as i know.

This would be pointless. The purpose of Gore-Tex is to let your body vapor escape while keeping moisture out. If you're carrying a dog or a small pig around I could understand it but I'm guessing you're not. The standard cordura with the thick rubber-ish liner they call come with will be fine.

48x16 02-14-05 11:48 PM

That was a reply to the person who mentioned wanting a gore-tex bag. my bad

Anyway...I owned a RELoad and I have to say I didn't like it as much I would have liked. I used a Chrome while messenger in NYC and it is the superior bag. Not sure about the engineering behind it, but the Chrome just felt right.

just looked at this thread. just thought id say that ive had my chrome for a while now and loved it . i got a citezen cause i only use it for around campus. my only complaint is the lack of color choices they had at the time i ordered mine. but when i ordered my girl friend hers they had every color in stock. ah well thats just bad timing i suppose

What about Bagaboo? Anyone know anything?

I ordered a bag from them but had trouble getting funds to them. They originally was going to send it COD but then coudnt do it internationally. It ended up that it was going to cost me an extra £40 to do a bank transfer and I couldnt justify adding that much extra ($75 USD) just to send the cash.
I wonder if they still have that custom bag of mine?
Really nice peope tho.

More big props to ReLoad. Got the Deluxe, my first new bag in 7 years (!) and what a sweet ride it is. They did a stellar job with my flower design (we all know how important flowers are to the ladies....). Digging all the strap adjustments, flexibility, and load balance. Filled it up this morning and couldn't even feel it. 3D pockets are perfect for transporting Black Boss. :D

Sweet bag!

Black Boss?! You been watching Blaxploitation again?

Heh, it sounded to me like a nickname for an inappropriate piece of hardware. But what do I know.
You and [165] are making me fall in love with ReLoad - if I ever need a new bag I know where to go.

i wonder how well reload could replicate this painting of the late tony williams on the side of a bag...

edit: okay, nevermind. i'm sure that's pretty well out of the question.

pitboss 02-16-05 10:07 PM

ask them...they'd tell you if it was a go or not

'Tis an excellent bag. Love the green - good colour choices. Black Boss eh? Never seen that... 165 - bring some back next time.

Just in case anyone was wondering, the Manhattan portage 1611 messenger bag holds two bijons quite well. And apparently one of the bijons thought it was comfortable enough to fall asleep in.

Rating: two bijons out of two

I have a smaller messanger bag that I carry my books, groceries, etc. in. But, when I bend over to grab the drops, my back arches up- since my books/etc. in the bag are flat, the bag doesen't conform to my back very well.

For those of you who are messangers, what do you do to work around this? Or, since you carry packages for a short amount of time, does it not really matter?

I would think it would be smart to create some sort of cushioning on the bag so that when you arch your back, the bag still 'hugs' your sides, somewhat like race car seating does.

This might confuse things, but here is my best quick sketch of what a biker looks like coming twoards you, carring 2 jugs of milk and the rest of his groceries in his pack.

He wants WAY too much money for that bag, two hundred bucks could buy a pac, or a cheaper bag and a lot of beer, or bike parts, or whatever.

That seller has some cool stuff though, from time to time. Did any of you guys pick up one of those keirin jerseys he had a while back?

Yes, but can it contain the fury of a pissed off cat who doesn't want to be inside a messenger bag?
