Seriously though, if the bike is properly faired, 125 feels like nothing. It feels rather planted.

Yeah, it isn't until about 160 before vision starts becoming distorted. That's when the real fun begins!

In the car world, it's often said that it's more rewarding to drive a slow car fast than it is to drive a fast car slow (and in a fast car, nominally high speeds like 80+ do feel slow, such being the insulated nature of modern cars). I wouldn't be surprised if the same principles applied to motorcycles.

Of course, one could always drive or ride a fast [fill in the blank] fast, but some things are not worth losing one's license over. And besides, there's little skill involved in opening up the throttle in a straight line. Big deal.

i firmly agree, which is why i wonder about all these middle aged men driving supercars around slow enough for us to pass them on bicycles

i never liked sustained high speeds though, i craved torquey acceleration more than top end. i got way more of a rush cracking the throttle and being at 60 in less than a block than anything. that pull of g forces is such an awesome feeling

American muscle cars drivers are usually the slowest from my experience.

I'm pretty sure a corvette's top speed is around 45mph.

I'm selling my FJ Cruiser and the lease is up on the Benz next June. Right now the plan is to get another Mini. I like little.

I was lumping them together. Doesn't matter, they're owners still drive them like they're in some sort of parade. So slow...

C'mon guys. You've never slow rolled while on your fast bike? Maybe these old dudes with fast cars are zone training.

Haha. I do think it has a lot to do with the cost of the car and the age of the person in it. Half of these cars people can't afford until they start getting up in age and by that time, they have no desire to go anywhere quickly.

For the record, I have nothing against modern supercar owners crawling along slowly on the street- as well they should be. If they want to beat on that ****, they should take it to a track or, if they're gutless, a dragstrip or autocross course.

The most annoying ones are the nouveau riche who rev the **** out of their Gallardos or weave through traffic, thinking they're hot ****.

^ i cannot understand why anyone would own a "fast" car living in manhattan, the fastest you can go is when all the lights sync on 7th at 4 am

If one has to own a car in the city (a pretty questionable decision in its own right), then this is pretty much close to my ideal:

Only drawback is that the tiny wheels don't absorb potholes and ****ty pavement very well.
