Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

It's part of a trail system that runs through Tecolote Canyon Natural Park which is inland parallel to Mission Bay , pretty good singletrack.

Went on a ride yesterday instead of studying for finals. One of my buddies got a flat and some dude let us use this thing to inflate (so awesome, took 1/2 second to fill the air to 90psi):

He also had some rad gas pumps:

I need sunglasses for these rides into the sun:

Finally got out for a ride after a month of cold rain and work priorities. Went out to Douthat Park

Then up Route 629 to Route 39, where I stopped for a snack

Then across and over Warm Springs Mountain to Warm Springs. At the lookout on top of the mountain, a nice gentleman noticed me taking a picture of my bike and offered to take a picture of me with my bike, old, fat, and slow

Looking East

At the Bath County information pagoda, another snack stop

Then back home. 71 miles, 5.5 hours, including two mountain climbs and stops. Next week I'll try for 80.
