Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Bikes: steel track

Left my house by bike at 8:30 this morning and got home at 10 at night. Worked a bit in the morning, then spent the rest of the day riding around the city and meeting up with a friend for good conversation and dinner.

Explored a new path off the main river that often made me feel like I'd left the city completely, despite still being smack in the center of it:

River crossing:

A better view of the path:

A reminder that I'm still in the city:

Back on the main river, waiting for my friend:

Although Korean food is fantastic, western food here is usually a disaster. But this place is awesome:

One more river crossing--time to go home:

The pictures of Korea are great! Do roads go up the mountains in the background?

This was my morning.

Sunrise over a misty lake...

Did some viscous climbs and fun descents...

Should have taken a dip...

Finished the ride on the MUP. 87° at the end of the ride. Cool air flows out of the tunnel as you approach.

The pizza place could be any street corner in Flushing, Queens in New York City.

There are usually some service roads going up the mountains. Plus a lot of neighborhoods and parks are built pretty aggressively into the mountainsides, although not in any of the pics I've posted here.

Lovely photos, as always, but more pics of those awesome horses you're always meeting, please.

It was muddy so I didn't go far, about 200 yards to avoid a busy intersection.

The place is a large mountain bike park on land leased by the county from the Army Corps of Engineers. Southern Offroad Bicycle Association (SORBA) maintains the trails and has done a stellar job so I try to be respectful of the trail closures due to rain.

Great trail running midweek during winter when there are few MTB's out. This is one of my favorite sections.

TimothyH Man! Talk about shredsville. I'd love to come into that section just a little too hot lol.

I wish I got on my bike as often as you appear to.

I drove up to the Cohutta Wilderness in North Georgia today and scouted some routes. Thought I'd post a few pictures.

Met two gravel riders on single speed Niners, super nice people, gave me all kinds of tips on routes and such. Can't wait to get up there with the bike next weekend...

Was taking a pano, literally in the middle of nowhere and a random mountain bike dude rode into the shot. Worked out nicely.
