Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

is there a way we can separate fixed rides from road rides?

Not that I know of, but when you import or save the ride, just put Road or Fixed in the title?

So what do I do? Just get the Android app, let it run while I ride and stop it when I'm done?

Bikes: Caad10 / All-City SP

Joined a few months back because I found out about it when Jandro posted some graph thing.

It was pretty cool but stopped using it because I only have my poop commuter/mtb.

Mash with your commuter!

Also, yes, Strava is amazing. You can't specify fixed vs. geared but you can name your bike. If it's fixed just do something like "dat Leader (fixed)" or something.

My profile is in my sig for anyone that wants to follow. I follow back! Bike Forums already has a group, btw.

I was kinda meh on it while riding, seemed like any other app, but the web side of it is really cool. I love the side by side comparisons to individuals

joined up. not really gonna get any long rides in for a month or so, just working 12-14 hr days for the rest of this month.

and strava is def the best cycling app, if you don't mind using a computer afterwards (which we all know this forum doesn't....)

This is probably the only thing I have seen that seems like a convincing reason to get a smartphone. Still not worth the money IMHO. Getting a little Garmin Forerunner 50 seems like a nice option though... Heartrate and GPS in a little watch.

I just got rid of Strava and for endomundo. I like both of them the same, but I like the features of endo better.

a phone with GPS works. or if you know your route and the exact time you can input it manually on the web. I had to do that for a ride I forgot to turn on

I may have to do this. Will it support a Garmin 200?
