Applying decals

Until I can afford a Milwaukee Bicycle Co frame, I'm just going to rock a pretend one
Ordered up these decals and they are arriving today, so I'm looking for pointers on applying them. I'm going to wash/scrub the area (down tube) with warm soapy water, rinse, dry, then clean with rubbing alcohol, air dry, then apply. Am I missing anything? I'd like them to last a long while. Thanks.

I always use a squeegee to apply stickers and decals; air bubbles and uneven adhesion be gone! You don't need it really if you're careful; I just use it because I have one lying around. The trick is to check twice on the location and orientation of the decal before applying and when applying start adhering from one side to another as opposed to just plopping it down to prevent any folds, wrinkles or airbubbles.

Good call, thanks.
That link I posted had some good info such as using bits of tape to mark off the location of the sticker before you begin applying (for centering/placement purposes).
It also mentioned something about applying some kind of top coat after sticker application (for durability). I'd love to do that but wouldn't it look stupid to have a frame that's a few years old and worn, and then this shiny spot where the decal is?

Oh and it won't be easy finding a top coat/spray to apply because selling spray paint is illegal in Chicago.

How much more help do you really need aside from what's been given in the thread you started?

Take a nice ride up the North Shore Channel Trail to the Home Depot or Lowe's in Lincolnwood (at and just north of Devon, respectively).

Wow, just save up and buy one. Rebadging your bike as a local company's bike is not only jackass, it is kind of disrespectful. It would be one thing if they screwed you over with bad service or something and you were putting their logo on a POS as a form of ironic revenge to make people think their products are crap.... but wow.... There is a thread for this kind of thing.

Fair enough. But I'm not going to tell anyone that my bike is a Milwaukee Bicycle. If anyone asks, it's a 2008 SE Lager.
I just like the shop, been buying from them for years, want to have their stickers on my bike. But I can see your point, it is a little weird. I don't think it's disrespectful though.
I also have a Sheldon Brown sticker on my bike but I'm pretty sure people don't think he custom built it for me.
If they were bothered by people using these decals, they wouldn't make them so readily available, no?

PS- I am saving up for one. That's why I started this thread "until I can afford..."

PPS- If you'd like to paypal a donation, PM me for my info.

Guys, agreed, it is a jackass move and sure, "lame", but I disagree with anyone who says it's disrespectful.

I like to go buy beer labels (bottle stickers/double as bumper stickers) from my favorite local microbrewery and put them on bottles of cheap swill when I have parties. No disrespect to the brewers/brewery.
