Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

You know - roundtail bikes are a real thing, with claimed benefits...

Introducing RoundTail (R), a revolutionary custom made bicycle frame that dramatically increases comfort.

That's not JA. That is a good bike from a reputable company. Obviously involved in a crash of some sort so hard that the thing folded in half.

I live about 2 miles from them and have heard nothing but good things.

The one pictured was probably just a special request. "Can I get a downhill bike with pennyfarthing geometry?"

Looks like a straight fork in a tapered headtube. They don't say whether the headtube is actually tapered, though.

For years, the fixie & single-speed bike market was dominated by heavy, unreliable, all-flash bikes which lowered standards & proved sluggish & difficult to ride. The RapidCycle Exceed surpasses expectations of fixed-gear road bike performance, weighing in at just 21 pounds & designed with best-in-class aerodynamics & riding experience in mind.

Also, apparently they use a special type of aluminum that is merely "Rust-Resistant".

Haha, that description might be more JA than the bike. I do like the orange, but that's overdoing it a bit.

They make a titanium track bike too, it costs $2000

https://www.rapidcyc.com/product/titan-t21-aircraft-grade-titanium-urban-track-bike/

Who would actually buy one of those?

Bro, "it allows the rider to speed up and slow down alongside traffic in a few pedal and a pull of the lever." Who wouldn't buy one of those??! That's some next-level revolutionary sh*t right there.

Christ, this company makes my soul hurt. A $2000 bike that's one-size-fits-all (54cm for rider 6ft. and under) and comes with bargain basement components? A singlespeed bike equipped with a shifter (Shimano SLX SL-M670 RapidFire Plus)? Something about a "break system"? I'm all for getting in where you fit in, and that can certainly mean a lot of different things for a lot of different people, but you gotta make a better effort than this.

You missed the vertical dropouts and no apparent way to adjust the chain tension.

Looking at it makes my eyes hurt, and I cringe to think someone might buy it.
