Not sure if serious or not, but...

Freds that haven't ever ridden a bike off road should not be so judgmental. I had to fix that for you, regardless if it was done on purpose or not.

I have had a few full suspension mountain bikes, not the garbage from Wal-Mart, but legitimate full suspension bikes. Some terrain does call for this type of setup. The bike that Scrod posted, well I am not sure what that is. The components looks pretty good from what I can see with the Fox shocks, Mavic wheels, Easton post, XTR rear derailleur, etc. It looks horrific, but at least it has decent stuff on it.

I dunno, I'd say that's a well executed paint job on an 09 FTP. It's not a theme that particularly appeals to me, but I don't think I'd call it jackass.

But with fork technology so good already, why design something like that with so many points to fail at?

Well, there are some technical advantages of link type suspension systems over telescopic forks, such as resistance to flexing and better steering, but the added weight and complexity tend to offset these factors. This is why you rarely see these systems on offroad motorcycles.

you could maintain or otherwise manipulate the wheelbase as the suspension compresses.

^Kinda neat concept but I'm sure it sucks ass.

SquidPuppet 02-18-15 10:38 AM

Think of the weight savings alone!!!!!!!!!!

seau grateau 02-18-15 02:57 PM

That looks like about 40 technological steps in the wrong direction.

Leukybear 02-18-15 04:03 PM

Modulating braking power is a doosy every time! Endos & crashes galore!

hairnet 02-18-15 05:56 PM

Talk about complication and added weight!

neamatoad 02-18-15 07:37 PM

the concept works fine on a bus, why not on a bike? :p

Itasha - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Considering its "raison d'etre" and the fact that the bike itself seems to be set up properly, I wouldn't consider this (or other Itacharis) jackass either. Weird, but not jackass. Plus it's not uncommon in Japan

"Dekocharis" on the other hand.....Just sayin....weird paint ain't got nothin' on attaching plywood to your bike....

The laws of physics must be different in Japan.

Nagrom_ 02-19-15 09:26 AM

Sorry guys, I'm inclined to believe Japanese people when it comes to **** like this.

T13 02-19-15 09:27 AM

The Japanese understand how to market to Americans. More=more.
