Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Looking for a fixie

My budget is $400. I want something to ride in the city on the weekends. Something that can take some jumps here and there but nothing to crazy. I been reading about pure fix, se bikes, retrospec and other similar brands but I'm getting mixed reviews. If anyone can point me out in the right direction that would be awesome. Thanks.

Unless you're wanting to get into messed up flatland BMX, fixed gears and "Sweet Jumps" don't generally go together. Are you thinking of dirt-jump style jumping? Or just hopping up and down curbs?

Only think about the kilo tt is the handlebar. I will like something with a riser bar. So I can be in a more comfortable position.

Hopping over and down curbs. Simple things like that. Maybe some stairs.

You probably don't want to be here.

Check out the fixed gear freestyle subforum.
