that's a really good idea about the hills there. when i lived in jersey, i'd ride home over the GWB every day and take those hills riding 48-14. i could barely get up some of them.
however, i think, and this is just my opinion, that riding all the way up the west side path, esp above 125, is beautiful. let's talk.

I did that once riding 48x15 and also could almost not go up the hills. I swear, I didn't stop, people were walking up faster I think.
There was one escpecially brutal hill adjacent to the West Side Highway, up to like 181st street I think.
I also ended up riding on the the West Side Highway as I exited the road from the Cloisters because I didn't know it led to the highway. I was headed to Dyckman street anyway (my friend has an Aikido studio uptown: Aikido Up Here
There's also a decent bike shop up on Dyckman street, near this pretty good coffee shop where we can have lunch. If we go.
How about we plan on meeting tomorrow around 10:00AM?
Is it fixies only tomorrow?

ok, so far we are at saturday 10 am (i like the earlier time) at the 1st ave side of the queensbridge. it should be a little chilly, but warmer than today. hopefully, SS and Fixies mostly, but if you're bringing friends who don't have them, so what?
i'm still home sick, and no end in sight. but i'll do the ride. just be patient with me on the ride. i plan on launching some record-breaking snot rockets.

Cool, I only slept 3 hours last night so I know I'm getting to bed early tonight. You mean the Queensborough Bridge right?
I'll bring my Pista, I'm an Asian guy in all black Lycra, hard not to spot me. Do I need to bring my lock, in case we get lunch somewhere?
I should add... I'm afraid of being the slowest in the group, but I guess it's OK since you have a cold!

I had a good time riding today!
It was nice to meet you guys too Akky and Msngr, and I'm looking forward to riding to Nyack with you guys.
I was exhausted after that, I ended up riding up the West Side greenway to 75th street after we finished the ride (after Msngr went back to Brooklyn), and then tried practicing some trackstands and fell for the 2nd time of the day.
See you guys next week if we ride.

fun yesterday. liked the pace and stopping occassionally.
good job of keeping going, g! you must have put in quite a few miles after all that. see how you feel today.
i, for one, stayed up all night coughing, despite theraflu, salt water, and various teas. so i feel lousey. i'm going to skip nyack today, akky. instead i'll hit Prospect in a little bit. that way i can quit at any time.

Just crawled outta bed less than an hour ago...it looks damn nice out. I'm gonna take advantage of it and ride Prospect in a few.

we (myself & msngr) had a nice coupla laps around the park - not a bad day to ride, if i do say so.
ch0mb0 - you know what they say 'bout early birds
Ceya - excellent! it'll be great to ride with you. and don't worry about droppage; that's not why we ride. yet.
and once you're back in shape, i wanna see you and msngr go toe to toe...

Yeah, I think Friday's supposed to rain or snow... I probably will just ride my trainer this weekend.
Hope you start feeling better too... I've been feeling real tired after the weekend, I've taken the last 2 days off to rest.
Couple of other things, I checked my cranks and they're 165mm, and my seat tube measures 51cm alright!
I also have decided to buy this bike as my next roadie: Scott Speedster S3 , I should have enough saved up my Memorial Day.
... I've decided not to get another steel frame/fixie.
Oh, I'm also not working this Sunday, so if you guys go then I can probably join in.
