He's just on a budget, but has a plan: Just bought Thomson X4 and "matching" Elite seatpost. No money left for bars. Next paycheck: Bullhorns. Next month (2 paychecks): A brake lever and caliper. Lookout PedalRoom. |

After the regular stuff the doc used some other weird scopes and eyedrops to dilate/look at my corneas and then set me up with a pair of trial lenses. Took me like five tries to get them in the first time, but I was in and out of the office in an hour.
I ask because I am, and i straight up couldnt get contacts that correct astigmatism in my eyes for the longest time because my eyes were so small |
Nope, white. I just have a major blink reflex.

That'll get better with time. Within a week or two you'll freak out a bit about how easy it is to touch your eyeball.
Some advice from all the years I wore them: Try not to drink/party too much with them in, passing out with contacts in sucks. Which leads to my second point, if you sleep with them in, be prepared to pry your eyelids open because they'll probably be crusted shut in the morning. Beer caps and spit work in a pinch when you forgot your case and solution...it's going to be gross when you have to put them back in the next day. If you're eyes start getting itchy (especially, in the beginning) take them out and put your glasses back on. Try not to wear them too far past the expiration date, contacts hold bacteria (especially if you did the spit/bottle cap trick). Having that bacteria sit on your eye from a dirty contact is not good at all. When you switch from contacts to glasses at night, give your eyes a few seconds to adjust before navigating stairs. Swimming in them is no big deal. Wash your hands before trying to take them out...also, if they're dry and itchy, put a drop or two in your eye or else they might be stuck to your eyeball. Wash your hands like crazy before putting them in, nothing is worse than a speck of dirt rubbing your eye all day. Enjoy wearing sunglasses. Edit to add: oh, and sooner or later one will get stuck under your eyelid and you'll spend 30 minutes crawling on the bathroom floor looking for it. |

Today I relocated to Portland for a couple of months.
The bad news: my bikes are back in NYC and I'm stuck riding my girl's baby blue hybrid til I get back. The good news: BEER BEER BEER BEER BEER BEER BEER! Where and what should I be drinking? I'm mostly an IPA and sour guy, but most of this stuff never gets across the Mississippi so I'm more than willing to jump out of my comfort zone. |

Everyone here still is an IPA nerd like yourself, Bailey's Tap room on like SW Broadway and Ankeny has a big beer selection, Apex on SE 11th and Division is a cyclist + Beer snob bar and I think every Tuesday or Thursday East Burn on SE 22nd and Burnside has 2.50 Micros so you can get drunk cheap there.
