Lots of bike shops in the Chicago area have Sunday hours. Not bike friendly in Portland? :-)

Cause that's when all the bike shop employees go ride?

Too bad, they should be there for all my service needs. I almost went to performance to get my parts yesterday.

Problem is everyone in this town doesn't work a real job so us few who have an 8-5 get screwed. One of the shops called bike commuter is only open 8-5 mon-fri so anyone who bike commutes can't even go there.

Sucked.

I don't really miss being the only "bike dude" in a big box store.

Haha huffy BMX's. Would you rather have 3 pallets of pro level road bikes instead? Pick your poison.

Today Prolly posted my work for the second time. Its amazing how great that site is for exposure. Lastly, Johnny how sweet of a deal?

johnnytheboy 11-18-13 02:59 PM

sorry...guy picked it up.

TheRealFaux 11-18-13 06:57 PM

I won an alleycat this past weekend. My prize is a custom frame made by people who specialize in fixed gear freestyle stuff. I'm going to ask them to build me a road frame.

Congrats dude!! So sick to see you crushing. Who's making the frame?

TheRealFaux 11-18-13 07:19 PM

Thanks! Sean Eagleton of Destroy Bicycles in Redwood City. I spoke to him at the SF Bike Expo where the race finished and he said he'd be into making a road frame for me. I know he has some experience in standard geometry track frames and Tyler has told me he has done up a CX bike as well when they met at Interbike. It makes me a little less skeptical he'll be able to execute what I want.

Leukybear 11-18-13 07:36 PM

Nice man!

Today I cheated on my road oriented bikes and rode the MTB to work and at the same time violated some landscaping.

Nagrom_ 11-18-13 07:45 PM

Today I have a terrible headache, and have otherwise lied in bed all day. Glad I didn't have work.

SpeshulEd 11-18-13 08:02 PM

Today I called the doctor to make an appointment about knees.

Hopefully things go well tomorrow and I'm not told to stop riding bikes for awhile.

He won't tell you to stop riding, he'll tell you stop riding fixed.

Nagrom_ 11-18-13 08:43 PM

I doubt the average doctor would have any idea of the difference.

TMonk 11-18-13 09:20 PM

stop riding for a while.

dont exacerbate your problem and turn it into a chronic condition by trying to ride too much. ive been there.

Today I'm not sure why I'm not tired. Haven't really slept in two days. Hope the crash doesn't happen during work tomorrow. It will.

Smashed the right knee in a mtb accident almost a month ago...not sure what's wrong with the left one, but it seems to hurt more than the right one. I think I'm overcompensating with the left for the right. I was trying to give them a little bit of a rest, but did a century on Saturday and around mile 60, both were in extreme pain. However, I really wasn't in a position where I could stop, so I just kept going. I could barely walk at the end.

The knees actually feel better the more I use them, but at night, they begin to lock up. Sleeping is a pain. Rolling from one side to the other is extremely painful and I practically have to lift the legs up and put them in the position I want them to be in because they're so stiff they don't want to move. Its extremely painful. Rolling over takes about 5-10 minutes.

It basically feels like someone took a baseball bat to both kneecaps. I'm just hoping its some bruising and a week off will fix the problem and not torn cartilage or anything where surgery is needed.

I don't think its from riding fixed...to be honest, I'm a bit a of a poseur and usually ride SS (I know, I know, hangs head in shame*), when I do ride fixed, I'm not much of a skidder and just slow down by resisting the pedals gradually...and I usually use the brakes.

Hope it isn't too serious.

I had bad knee problems for a couple of years, it was a pretty bad feeling. Now they just get sore once in a while. You'll get through it, hopefully you won't have to stop with the bikes for too long.

hairnet 11-19-13 02:19 PM

I fixed up a Wabi Special today. HHHHHNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGG I need to get on a fg again.

TMonk 11-19-13 02:19 PM

Spesh:

Please take my advice and let go of riding for a while - a month or more off the bike is probably smart.

Cycling will always be there. How long you are out of the game at this point is going to be largely contingent upon your recovery habits - don't go out and test your knee all the time. If it feels bad, test it next week with a <30 min flat ride.

I've been there - it sucks. In Dec 2009 I jacked my knee up real bad with a overuse injury that resulted in quadriceps tendonitis, which I still deal with but is under control. I was really bummed because I was putting in huge miles (~18-20 hr weeks, 3 week blocks) and was for sure the fittest of my life; I was going to totally kick ass in the 2010 racing season.

yummygooey 11-19-13 08:09 PM

on sunday my face made a date with the pavement. i spent the night in the neuro ICU and now i'm spending some time at home recovering from a substantial concussion. oh... did i mention MY FACE?!

i don't remember what happened. jdgesus saw most of it, he says he wishes he could unsee it... so it was probably bad. LOL. all i can say is that it could have been much much much worse.

my face tho...

nsfw/nsfbfssfg but i know a few of you have seen it on the 'grams.

no bikes for 2 months, says the doctor. just in time for the new bike i was in the middle of building up. :(

prooftheory 11-19-13 08:14 PM

Get better yummy! We'll love you no matter how ugly you are.

thewilson 11-19-13 08:16 PM

I saw it on the gram, it was brutal.
