I guess I'm lucky that most of our clientele are homeless dudes on steel-rimmed Magnas shod with old, floppy 1.95" knobbies.

Tool-free tire mounts all day = no problemo.

LesterOfPuppets 10-18-13 11:43 AM

Oh, I don't use my thumbs to get tires on, either. I wring them onto the rim with the upper part of my palms. I should make video.

Yep. Have you had blisters on your thumbs yet, Scrod? I ordered a bead jack for the shop after that fateful day.

I had one a few years ago that was pretty gnarly paired with one on my palm that basically made my whole hand useless.

yeah that works too

Enjoy it while it lasts. When I was a 20-something, working in a bike shop, I had no problem doing tool-free tire mounts all day. Now that I'm 58, with arthritis in my hands, I can't do it anymore, so I use a bead jack.

Scrodzilla 10-18-13 12:23 PM

^Obvious wimp is obviously wimpy.

TMonk 10-18-13 12:26 PM

well having a tool is a little excessive when you do it at most 1x/week instead of 10's or even 100's of times/week is all im sayin'

not trying to make some "bead jacks are for *****s" type maxim here

Scrodzilla 10-18-13 12:27 PM

I can eat spaghetti just fine with my hands but - even though I don't eat it very often - I still prefer to use a fork.

prooftheory 10-18-13 12:28 PM

I wish I could get my children to see things that way.

TMonk 10-18-13 12:31 PM

word.

Nagrom_ 10-18-13 12:36 PM

Tools are for fools.

LesterOfPuppets 10-18-13 12:37 PM

I like tools for eating.

I'm still tool-free when it comes to fingernail and toenail trimming, though :)

SICK BURN.

I'm pretty sure I don't want to know how one trims toenails without a tool.

I bite my toenails.

Keeps me limber.

prooftheory 10-18-13 12:45 PM

And the lesson is: never tell the internet what you don't want to know.

ThimbleSmash 10-18-13 12:53 PM

Continued work on my Raleigh Pointe beater bike. Plan is to knock it down to a 1x7 gearing, add some caliper or direct pull canti brakes, Vetta saddle, and maybe replace stem and bars with something more to my taste.

As long as you do it without tools, it will be accepted.

Will do. No tools for this manly man of men. Time for me to go and watch Ponies now.

Which bag are you using? I'm using a Manhattan Portage and I can't find a place to just hook my lock to.

seau grateau 10-18-13 02:42 PM

I use a Chrome bag right now, used to do it with a RELoad too. When they're cinched up nice and snug, the strap just holds it against your body.

solipsist716 10-18-13 07:22 PM

Tomorrow I should be getting packages from Paul Component as well as Scrod. Been trying to celebrate new knife day since I ordered a new pocket guy before I ordered my things from Scrod (who had to special order a BB for me) and its still not here.

I usually don't get anxious/angry about shipping, but goddamn. That long for an in-stock pocket knife?

johnnytheboy 10-18-13 07:40 PM

today i sold the RED off the crux.
11 speed ultegra, here i come!
