Today I almost had a rage stroke watching the Blackhawks game, then they won and I'm still trying to scrape myself off the ceiling.

What a terrible call in the 3rd. But we're advancing so I'm happy.

Got off work and decided I wanted to do some hill climbs because I had nothing better to do today and biked out to Mt. Tabor to find it was being occupied by a bike race, so I left and got falafel and beer. Healthy living.

Can look as buff as they want, but can't turn a wrench, they are doing it for looks.

OH, lol. Today some kid came into the shop to get a Chris King headset and Fu Manchu fork installed on a Windsor the Hour. He needed a new fork cause he was getting pedal strike while bar spinning his 650. 44/13 brakeless. Complained of spinning out.

Some people.

I wish.

Forgot the worst part. His steerer tube was bent, from tricking I presume, and we couldn't get the original fork out without a ****load of hassle. A hammer and block of wood didn't even do it.

Just saw that, geee I remember that he got all flustered on here in what he thought that leader had blatently copied his track frame with the release of the kagero '11. I guess this is his way of taking revenge?

Not sure but I think he was... too tired to do some snooping but a google search of them old archives found this:

I think there was a clean up before this. Go figure.

DanBell 05-30-13 07:55 AM

I finally managed to get a replacement buckle ordered for my Mavic shoes, which means I'm back on the Big Block for the commute tomorrow. I took the opportunity tonight to replace the chain and grips, and clean and relube everything. Going to be like riding a new bike tomorrow morning!

I have no complaints about the Mavic shoes. This broken buckle is the first problem they've had in five years of constant commuting. When I replace them though, I think I'll go triple velcro straps for commuting shoes so there's nothing to break.

I hate these hell spawn. Apparently some of them are harmless and kill spiders but that doesn't make the thought of these ****ers climbing all over my face while I sleep any better.

Today I received mixed news. To get my car to pass inspection, I would have to throw more money into it than its worth. I'm going carfree, but thinking about getting into motorcycles. I've been looking at cafe-style CB750s for a day and I'm about to dive head first into this new hobby.

But this means I can't really afford a new TCR :(

hank0604 05-30-13 08:26 AM

I've been carfree for about 5 years now, and I love it, but if you have to get a motorcycle to go carfree then you probably shouldn't. You can't really do anything with a motorcycle that you can't do with a bike (except for maybe a quick trip to somewhere 50-100 miles away). On a motorcycle, you'll still get wet when it rains, cold when it's cold, and still can't bring home a lot of groceries.

Motorcycles are a ton of fun, but they are certainly no replacement for cars.

Being from Buffalo (1999 Stanley Cup Finals Game 6 triple overtime NO GOAL look it up) I'm extra sensitive to bad/borderline officiating. Barry Melrose on ESPN was all "good call" but he's a Red Wings homer (he was calling the series over when the Wings were up 3 games to 1). The NBC Sports guys were both in agreement that the refs had not been calling little pushy-shovey **** like that all night so it was poor decision making to blow the whistle especially given the play that was developing. I'm just glad that 1. the right team won :D and 2. no one got hurt in the "extra" playing time that resulted from that goal being waved off.

Also it's fun to get all outraged at refs. It's part of sports fandom. :D :D :D

I just like watching them hit each other.

Mumonkan 05-30-13 09:17 AM

Today i double pinch flat 3 miles from home at a spot where ive had the exact thing happen to me once before and 2 regular flats before.

Replaced rear tube and didnt know about the front, go on my way and front is totally flat.

Patch front, inflate, patch failed.

Clean, patch front again, wait longer, patch failed again.

(This is all while "The Brood 2" is coming out of the ground up here. [cicadas for all you lucky people who dont have to deal with the mass hysteria going on now.] and they swarmed everywhere, in the time it took to change a tube there was 6 of them on my bike. )

http://distilleryimage6.s3.amazonaws...0a9f3cba_7.jpg

No more patches left, woke up my gf to drive me home.

Drive to work, insane traffic getting to campus cuz of graduation day, 1 hr late to work.

Get here and noone really knows im late so i guess it kinda worked out, but i really had no desire to drive today.

Maybe i need to carry like 3 tubes at all times. ****ing **** roads on this hell island.
