Today I discovered that my car was broken into last night. First time in 7 years of parking on the street in SF that it's happened, I never leave anything visible, so not sure why they decided to pick on mine. Worst part isn't even that they took my old iPod, it's that it was pouring rain all night so the interior is soaked and so much glass and crap everywhere. Ugh.

(yesterday) I moved to my new apartment. it's tough to downsize from a 4bed house with a full garage and basement. i expected to be sad leaving the house today, but strangely i wasn't. maybe it's excitement about the new place/neighborhood, maybe it's just relief after 10 months on the market.
now that moving and all that is behind me (although soooo much unpacking to do) it's time to get back on the bike. can't wait for my new bike commute.

Today I delivered the DMR to it's new owner and I don't miss it at all.
Because of this. Not sure yet about the bars. Also 20 miles today.

Almost got arrested for carrying my pocket knife.
I was approached by 3 plain clothed officers in time square because I had my knife clip sticking out of my back pocket. It is a non automatic, non assisted open blade under 4" which is with in the legal limit. I think the fact that I had the clip exposed makes it a "visible weapon" so they stopped me and brought me to do a background check. Since I had no previous arrests I was let go.
They claimed my knife is a gravity knife, meaning it can be opened with little force, which is BS in my opinion. The only way to open my knife like that would be to grab the blade and whip it open.
TLDR: I learned to carry my knives in my pocket with out exposing them.

Tell me about it, I think the fact that I volunteer at the 911 memorial and I work for the power company in NYC helped my cause. I was taken back on how they kept pushing the "gravity knife" issue. I purposely don't carry out my assisted knifes as I want to avoid trouble.
Its not going to deter me from carrying my knifes as this is the first time in 3 years of living in the city that I've been approached but I will probably avoid keeping it clipped on my pocket.

They had no right to stop you in the first place.

clipping from the "American Knife & Tool Institute":
Individual’s Alert:
If you’re an individual arrested for carrying a one-hand opening knife and charged with a gravity or switchblade violation, don’t make a deal. Contact us for possible additional information, including a referral for an expert witness.
New Yorkers and travelers beware:
If you have a knife with a clip showing New York City considers that an illegal open carry.
In New York State, a person is guilty of criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree when “he possesses any firearm, electronic dart gun, electronic stun gun, gravity knife, switchblade knife, pilum ballistic knife, metal knuckle knife, [or certain other itemized types of ‘per se’ weapons].” See New York Penal Law (“P.L.”) §265.01(1) (emphasis added).
The Penal Law defines a “gravity knife” as “any knife which has a blade which is released from the handle or sheath thereof by the force of gravity or the application of centrifugal force which, when released, is locked in place by means of a button, spring, lever or other device.” See P.L. §265.00(5).
Its BS and they are trying to "clean up" the city by making things difficult for people such as myself who are not doing any harm.
Even though I am in support of the NYPD I am beginning more and more to see your statement as factual.
