Do they have ceramic bearings?

LesterOfPuppets 08-15-14 01:25 PM

First we get bike stuff on newegg, now this???

Alloy derailleur pulleys are super loud, BTW.

Today I assembled a Kilo TT and, contrary to that recent member stripped everything, I did not strip any of the bolts.

FakeFuji 08-15-14 02:20 PM

The person was probably using imperial hex keys to strip everything like that

**** made me laugh. We can all go back to recommending the kilo tt again now that we know they won't completely fall apart. That was a scary false alarm.

Today I received the last part for my Steamroller build, brake lever (cane creek 200TT). I now have it completed and ready to ride in the morning. The brake lever was quite a adventure. I originally bought a pair on Ebay. I got a shipping notice after a couple of days, but it was never received by USPS, only the payment notice. After 2 weeks ( I went on vacation and didn't know if it had be delivered), I contacted the seller (on a Sunday). He replied in about an hour, said USPS confirmed the package was lost and he issued a refund. Very glad I got the refund, but imagine USPS confirming anything in less than an hour and on a Sunday! I then ordered from another mail order house. I placed order, then 2 days later was contacted that they were out of stock and cancelling the order. Finally ordered from Amazon, paid for fast shipping. It took a little over a week, but they came in today. I only have a front brake, so I'm only using one of them.

Today I was really hoping to receive my order from Niagara Cycle so I could get my bicycle up & running again, but no :(

Today I reached my wits end with windows 8.
Deleted my last win8 boot partition. It had its chance. Not a keeper.

It seems to me, every install I do sooner or later ends up having permissions problems eventually or another that's irreparable and requires a fresh install from scratch.

I want the money I paid back.

I'm not too trusting of chinese aftermarket parts though. Why compromise a manufacturer's derailleur design to save a less than a handful of grams? They for sure put a whole lot more engineering R&D in their products than their chinese counterparts.

Not sure what the majority of buyers are using alu der pulleys are intending to do, but I have a set on a Nuovo Record der on which the original vinyl (?) pulleys cracked and failed. Over $40 per is a crazy high price though.

sooo glad i just stuck to 7 on my new pc, I had used 7 for a few years before, never ever had a problem. I love windows 7, it's the rebooted xp

murrellington 08-16-14 12:58 AM

Nobody likes windows 8. I don't know much about computers but when I got a new laptop my wife got rid of it and I use Linux now.

Huffandstuff 08-16-14 01:32 AM

Ubuntu is boss for most standard computer uses.

Today I raced some track, ate ****** vegan food then bought a sscx bike, no pictures until tomorrow when I take it for a shakedown ride on some trails.

id like to install linux on my laptop if it would be of any use but no... its over 7 years old, over heats and shuts off randomly. Stupid slow garbage. Plus i punched the keyboard awhile back and it dips in now in the middle lol.... think i ****ed up the wifi board because i have to tether it to the modem lol

You sound like me. If a computer is being stupid and not working then just punch it. I have recently come to the conclusion however, that punching technology rarely results in a positive outcome.

Buy a new laptop? They have some pretty good ones for relatively cheap these days

GENESTARWIND 08-16-14 05:16 AM

it was a hand me down from a really good friend ive known since childhood, its had allot of abuse aka workload over the years, its had formats, fresh windows installs ect. its really on its last legs and i was drinking that night but i do like to joke about percussive maintenance when it comes to fixing things :p

yes when this laptop dies i will purchase another. I had a refurbished HP l2000 prior to this but someone let it fall down a flight of stairs a few years ago... Loved that lap top. It cant handle more than a few tabs with chrome or running an actual program with any background apps running. Its a tired old horse that needs to be taken out and shot but ill just run it till it gets to the point that i cant do basic things such as internet browsing with atleast one or two tabs.

it wasnt a bad laptop before, pentium 4, nvidia graphics, harmon kardon sound. no hdmi out/in though lol old hp pavilion zd7000

LowRG 08-16-14 07:47 AM

Chromebook FTW.

Just started watching video game high school on netflix.

Today I rode to the Farmer's Market with my wife.

But first, I stopped to get some cash:

And then I found a guy selling amazing ribs and picked up a half slab:

But I realized I didn't have a knife so... Benchmade:

All in all, I'd say I had an awesome day (and all before noon).

Doubt I can make it to the race Sunday since I still haven't been paid for the accident I was in plus the new bike.

Good news is the shakedown ride was perfect. I was on some trails that were a bit too much for a cross bike but I still managed to get props from some mtbers. Obligatory lake trillium shot.
