Dudes, I am getting so stoked for Alaska! I'm planning to bring only one bike up with me this summer. There is awesome road riding and mountain biking. Pretty sure I will bring my rigid 29er with 1x9 drivetrain and bring an extra wheelset with 28mm road tires. Anyone care to comment on what type of bike they would like best for all-in-one use?

Check out the trail 5 miles from my future residence: AB Skyline, Skagway Ak on Vimeo

A cross bike would be best imo, can go trail riding then swap wheels and do up the road.

Today I end my vacation and go back to Portland, can't wait to go back to the cold and rainy after sweating my ass off the last week in az.

+1 only substitute buffalo for Michigan.

Today I used a pair of pedro's levers for the first time. I got them a long time ago after everyone raved about them here. Swapped out some rubber on the paddywagon, I still think park's TL-1 levers are best suited for road tires being the "perfect nimble size" for the application IMO.

For road tires, using pedro's levers felt like threading a needle with a nail. Anyhow, they were and still are in the saddle bag for my ibis MTB where they would have an advantage over park's most popular lever (TL-1).

I volunteered at the co-ops farmers market booth and indulged in some fancy market coffee. I also ordered some expensive welding lenses because my eyes can't seem to take the heat any longer

Today I rode full lycra racing kit on my fixed gear.

Today I rode in a lycra racing kit, under some windproof winter pants, windproof winter jacket, 2 sets of gloves, PI winter shoe covers and a balaclava. And that was because it was a warm 38 degrees today, the wind however was obnoxious.

Ah yeah? I wore some slacks and a button down shirt. Broke a little sweat on my ride to the coffee shop.

Today I got fired. Never been so happy in my life. I was only there 2 months but boy did it suck.

Well I wish you luck with the search for a new job.

Yeah, I hate it. I made the mistake of having some deeper walled rims on my cyclocross bike and I was getting thrown around like a rag doll (I weigh 200 pounds).

Today I did a fixed century, (ok, a Metric century) at the Silver Comet in Atlanta. Chased some roadies, got dropped, had fun. Now I'm in Albany Georgia for work.

Exciting! Hopefully you get a good deal on something you like. If you aren't a good negotiator then bring someone who is.

Dude, that's not censorship. You can still view the image if you wish, it's just that you have the option not to if you find it offensive. Get a life.
