Went on a quick ride this AM suited up in my old school Postal Service kit -- While attacking this rather large hill this old guy appeared out of no where behind me and started making all these cracks about doping. Before i could really retort he flew by me and then was gone. He looked like Sam Elliot -- I couldnt help but to think of the Big Lebowski. Strange times dude.

That's what you get for wearing a pro team kit.

Unkle Rico 03-30-15 09:28 AM

I guess so -- really it was only a jersey but my bib basically matches it. In any case, just a weird couple of moments haha

I couldn't get my rack mounts to work...couldn't get the bolt to go in the mount on my hour.

Of course, I wasn't that persistent.

Today I rode a geared bike for the first time in ~750 miles. Felt good, especially with the tailwind.

I just realized that one of my favorite Sushi spots in the city was part of the explosion on East Side. Sushi Park.

Unkle Rico 03-30-15 12:40 PM

Enjoy adjusting your seat post every time you need to lock up. Along with riding a noodle.

Today I didn't fall while unclipping.

Yesterday I did because I didn't tighten my cleats enough, so they twisted and I couldn't unclip. Fortunately I realized this and leaned up next to the gate I pulled up to, but then looked at the bottom of my shoe to see. I slowly slid down to the ground in shame. Children in the park nearby laughed at me. Oh well.

Thanks for the heads up.

Today I received the 50th anniversary edition of Berkshire Hathaway's annual report in the mail. My hat's off to anyone who can do what they love for as long as Warren and Charlie. :thumb:

I'm a bit perplexed by this statement. All of my older bike frames going back nearly 50 years have been measured c-t. The only bike frame I've ever owned that was measured c-c has been my Wabi Lightning.

I could be out of touch, I was taught to measure c-c and have always used it, but I do believe c-t is more commonplace in the US, so I'll give you that.

c-c makes more sense to me, because if the seat tube extend beyond the top tube it doesn't really make the frame any bigger. With today's sloping top-tubes, things get even murkier for me. I feel sometimes I need a "virtual seat-tube" measurement, that compares back to a horizontal top-tube.

Back in the old days of lugged steel frames, there were no extended seat tubes or sloping top tubes, so sizing was consistent and easy to understand. Most bikes sold in the USA were imported from Europe or Japan, and I've owned many of them that all used c-t seat tube sizing. Anyways, I've always sized my frames based on top tube length, which is c-c.

Today I

n-1 SSFG bikes

n+1 geared bikes

Conservation of bieks has been maintained.

spRICE 03-30-15 10:29 PM

I recently switched to 155mm cranks on my road bike, and I'll probably do the same on my FG. Feels really good with my 27" inseam. :D I even won a race (criterium) on them.

A sharpie will solve that problem quickly. Just mark your seatpost where it meets the frame and getting your seat back to normal takes no time.

Today I watched this while having my morning coffee. Good way to start the day.

Nothing but Rad.

Mumonkan 03-31-15 10:56 AM

2:47 - **** thats good.

does loctite go bad? i cleaned and reassembled my RD last night and put loctite back on the jockey wheel bolts. this morning i go out to do some errands before it starts raining and within the first mile the lower bolt comes undone, dumps the jockey wheel and swallows the chain

spent 30 mins scouring the road for the dust cover and the inner ceramic bearing, couldnt find either. good thing i have a spare of the exact same derailleur

my package of brake pad holders and pads came in the mail, and for some reason i didnt order 2x of each so i only have enough for one brake.

now i have a meeting about some **** i wasnt even here for.

great ****ing day.

This is a great way to start the day with coffee, +1'd.

I'm also a fan of 2:47 that **** was dope. I also liked 1:45 quite a bit.

The one that kills me is at 2:13. The cyclocross dude riding a backwards downhill stoppy. I can do that forward because you have the brake to help modulate the balance, but backwards the brake becomes moot, so it's pure balance......plus backwards. HOW**********????

TMonk 03-31-15 11:36 AM

Ya, that's a cool video. I think that is one of Marty Ashton's Road Bike Party videos. The actual cross footage of the dude hopping up the stairs at 0:38 is pretty cool too.
