It's been miserable down here in Cleveland lately. Like rainforest miserable.

I laid in bed at night during the winter, and just thought about the hot days and nights, riding home from work, bombing down the main road, almost midnight, 85 and humid out. Sweat just streaming off my arms and face. Glasses fogging up when you come to a stop because the heat from your face just radiates. I thought about all of that while we had one of the worst winters for snow, wind and record low temps. I hate winter. Bring on the heat!!!

87* right now (12:15am cst) with 76% humidity. I love riding at night in this ****.

Been in Vegas in that heat. Hot as hell, but oh so dry. No humidity at all. Walked out of our hotel at high noon in late August. 100° on the button. Felt like you opened the oven at 450°. Would ride in a heartbeat. How bad can you sweat when it pretty much evaporates right off of you?

today i put 44 miles on the new shimergo setup before work. the trek hauls major ass now and has some nice billygoat gears

small:small rings is no bueno. it could be but then i wouldnt have enough chain for big:big and i really dont want it to explode, so no big deal for me since the likelihood of me using that combo is close to nil.

had it for a few months now but its been a 1x setup with dt shifters and all shimano

totally changed the feel of the bike tho so it might as well be all new

today i need input from y'all.

friend of mine is offering his viner 80s track bike + $100 cash for my landshark time shark. yay or nay

which do you think will fetch more $ on the used market? i'm lookin' to sell.

Arent all Landshark bikes custom painted? IE there isnt another bike like yours?

Have you ridden the other bike? Which feels more comfortable to you?

yah they are. the paint on the landshark isn't in the greatest shape. flaking off around the fork crown. initially i was going to sell the landhshark to help fund a vacation, but i offered it to the guy who sold it to me (made a pact). viner + $100 is his offer. viner is a 54ish, and in fine shape w/ all decals intact.

either way imma sell one, cuz i need the $$. not too concerned w/ riding either. one bike is enough for me now.

It something similar a long time ago. Mega compact crank 50/24 with 12-32 gearing. I was amazed I could even shift the front (yay friction shifters) and I could only use like 3/4 of the cassette with the small ring.

I think 28t cassette and ring there. I tried a few set ups. 24t was dumb for a road bike.

Sell the Shark to me, it's kinda my thing.

TIL: the dealer price of campy track hubs is less than that of both high and low flange phil hubs.

Yet most dealer's set the retail price for campy hubs higher than phils. Because #campyswag

Oh it's fine when you're moving, you only sweat a little bit as soon as you slow down it's ****ing awful. Phoenix is worse. I hated riding in 115 to 120.

That's what I say, there's always a breeze (albeit a hot one) when you're riding, but the light sweat keeps you cool. It's when you get stuck at a long light or have to wait a few minutes for traffic at a cross street, that sucks. You literally watch the sweat bead on your skin and start run down your arms and legs.

Pricing things has a little more to do with MSRP and MAP policies than swag. But what do I know?

Well obviously I had to make it short and sweet for this thread. I didn't want to get to the nitty gritty in a simple thread like this but if you insist:

There's a direct connection... the swaggiest gear in the cycling world is campy and correspondingly it is also the priciest.
Thus being harder to obtain and out of reach to some. Why? Because Campy deliberately inflates the prices via MAP policies as mentioned.

But before you start being offended, it's win-win for the selling players, even the buyers.

Campy gets to maintain exclusivity and people's desire/ interest in obtaining their gear. Adding brand equity to their name.
I'm sure there are many cyclists out there pinching penny's for their campy. The higher price makes people perceive of campy as being higher quality too.

The bike shop owner/ campy retailer, makes more of a profit margin, which of course is good as it is devoted to overhead and well everybody's got to eat.

Buyers get to have something that not everybody else has in terms of design aesthetic and functionality for reasons mentioned above.
In addition, they might/ most likely will get additional purchase satisfaction/ utility from the envy of those who do not. Which gives them justification for campy's higher price.
A good simple example is submissions to our very own bike porn thread; lots of campy equipped bikes for our viewing pleasure.


All of which MAP policies ensures nobody undermines this system which makes the cycling world go round.
