Getting ready here to "JRA." Small group heading out this morning on a 60+ mile adventure and exploring ride. If I do this right, my first century might happen. Taking the endurance road bike for this one. Those 25's are gonna ride like a Cadillac!!

TMonk 08-02-15 08:57 AM

JRA!

I prefer 25's over 23's in most circumstances these days myself. The new wide rim craze also makes a diff; my primary road bike has 23 tires on 23mm wide rims (Hed Belgium) and they are niiiiiiiice. I run them at like ~95 PSI, and I'm 155-160lbs.

I made raspberry pie.

90° but we were JRA. Top speed was 36.8 on my geared bike. Had some fun.

"We have this entire lake to ourselves..." is how most slasher movies start.

;)

Went hiking this morning, bodysurfing at the beach this evening.

Got doored. I guess it was bound to happen, commuting daily in SF for over 8 years now. Dude was suuuuper apologetic and nice about it and a cyclist himself so that made it suck a lot worse, because I felt bad yelling at him. My entire right side is slashed and bruised but nothing broken, pretty sure, even though I went down real hard. Ugh.

Where at?

How's the bike?

cali_axela 08-02-15 10:07 PM

Coming down California, between Kearny and Montgomery. That block is always a bit of a cluster**** and I was being careful, almost dodged it but caught it on my elbow and lost control then went down on the trolley tracks. Bike is fine, bars were tweaked sideways a bit from the hard fall, but an easy adjustment. Oh, and my pannier got pretty scuffed up, but it's still 100% functional and I don't mind the patina.

No skinny dippy, the Langster stayed home, and I did think about horror movies at one point (but then thought no killer would have taken the time to make this hike). We did have a good time!

About to go hike Bear Mtn with a co-worker. Been hiking more this summer than I've been riding on the street, not too mad about it.

I love hiking in remote and wooded areas, except when I have 30 something pounds on my back and I am 3-4 hours into a climb.....Like Saturday.....

Huffandstuff 08-03-15 10:31 AM

Had like 30 minutes of wait time in a parking lot last night, learned how to do backwards circles. #fixiefamous

Unkle Rico 08-03-15 10:31 AM

Jeez!! Glad that you're ok good sir! That whole area is such a cluster**** for biking :crash:

That totally sucks. I commute in SF, daily, too, and I am soooo paranoid about that.

...I didn't hit anything, and nothing hit me, on my morning commute. However, drivers did seem to have less understanding than usual of the "3 Foot Rule."

Mumonkan 08-03-15 11:09 AM

ive been ****ing with the front wheel i built for the past 5 hours to try and work out a vertical hump. i get it pretty good then i check the spokes and half the wheel is loose and the other half is super tight. what the ****.
