Pretty sure I'm gonna ride the 100k gravel cross event.

bowzette 08-08-15 12:32 PM

Did a crazy long ride in the Texas heat and wind. Now I'm toast for the rest of the day. Wife is interested in house projects; I got to look interested and not in a comma:(

Today I arrived in McAllen Texas. Will be working here this week.

From my hotel window, I can see a ghost bike, chained to a palm tree.

Carcosa 08-09-15 01:49 PM

Yesterday I rode my first fixed century. Today I'm not sure how I can still walk.

The ride was 8,000 people deep (not all riding 100) and raises money for cancer research. The support, parties, swag and people cheering on the route were all pretty awesome. I'd love to start riding more big group rides.

Went to Vanilla/speedvagen /sugar garage sale, I couldn't even afford the cheapest thing there. So many nice bikes though.

Have you thought about the place with the shrine?

Mumonkan 08-09-15 08:33 PM

briefly. the cost of living is very low, but the keeping my skin intact taxes are very high for the region

Today I did a bunch of day drinking and yelled at a couple of should-be-retired European soccer stars.

Second century in a week. Legs are absolutely wrecked.

If you keep at it enough you can do one everyday. What gets rekt only gets stronger.

I know that feeling.

Started up mt hamilton and only made it halfway up. Forgot my saddlebag at home, didn't take any food, and my bottom bracket was creaking. Went home and fixed all that.

how much elevation? what gear inch did you use?

Kindaslow 08-10-15 05:50 PM

Unboxed my White Industries cranks, BB, sprocket and pedals. They are beautiful and the workmanship is awesome. Leaving town before I can get them installed, so the pics have to wait. Just excited to see it coming together.

finished true detectives season 1. rad. now obsessed with carcosa related mythos.

also EXTRA creeped about about the **** i found in the woods that sparked this whole thing, because its located on church grounds that ive posted about before. made famous from the baptism scene in the godfather, but also several fires. most importantly one of which was in a young boys orphanage that completely razed the building.

oh and theres also a huge graveyard.

**** me.

pwebb 08-10-15 08:46 PM

today i sold the Low//!!! Money money money, MONEY!

also don't watch True Detectives Season 2, save yourself the time. It just made me mad because I could have been re-watching season 1 again.

Glad you left your food and saddlebag at home. You had extra room to carry all those excuses.

Those excuses weighed me down way too much. That's why I couldn't climb the whole thing.

Tonight I bought a Trek 510 sport touring frame from a local hoarder for $50. I just mocked it up with garbage parts and it fits perfectly! I'll try to post some pics in a day or two. I'm so excited! I never get such good bike finds.

Leukybear 08-11-15 10:11 AM

There's not enough silver threadless stems.

Correct. Been looking for one for my cross bike for almost a year now and no good deals. VO, Ritchey or Thomson are your only 31.8 options.

Mumonkan 08-11-15 10:56 AM

nitto?

TenSpeedV2 08-11-15 11:32 AM

Swapped out my American Classics for some stock wheels. The red wheel was just too much and even though they are a bit lighter, they will be retired and sold if possible. Now to find a good place to get a decent picture. Also had to purchase a lock ring since they didn't come with one. LBS had a nice Surly ring that I picked up. Looking forward to my commute here in a few minutes...been almost a week and a half since I have ridden fixed.
