Raced in a practice crit today. Lots of fun, but I messed shifting up when I tried to get out of the saddle, and missed first in the C group by less than 2 feet.

Ultimately going to go with.
I need something with a 31.8mm open face clamp. After that, nitto only has their UI-5GX, the thomson-esque UI-252CNC, and the pricey steel craft 5 stem.
VO's normal height threadless stems look cheap and overpriced to me. They seem to just be rebranded el cheapo dimension stems. I appreciate the variety they bring to the table though with their other stuff.
I think Ritchey has just 1 silver stem, the classic.
I've done the silver thomson x2's to death. I want something to change it up.

I had an opportunity to compare an $18.00 31.8mm Kalloy (Dimension) stem in hand right next to a expensive Ritchey. The Kalloy had obviously superior forging (Ritchey had visible pores) and the machined areas and cleaned up edges were vastly superior in craftsmanship. (Robots?)The Ritchey's surface looked looked awful, uneven and rough. The Ritchey felt bad when tightening the bolts. It had that "Somethings gunna give" feeling way before it was fully tightened. The Ritchey's bar bore wasn't truly round and had no "bite" ridges. The Kalloy held the bars better, with less torque, and fit the steerer more precisely as well. Excellent stainless hardware, properly greased in the package. Very light and stiff.

Reminds me of an old Wilson Pickett song about a man who intends to steal his best friend's girlfriend...
We'll be friends until the end
But this looks like the end my friend
I gotta have that dolly for my own

No problem. I knew you mentioned it once, so I thought I'd ask
@Muffin Man
kinda hard to capture, but its a thick solid band that goes all the way around. no dots or stripes, super grippy, but not overly "pully" if that makes sense, like i said i have hairy legs and i dont shave and it doesnt feel like it wants to rip hairs out

New kit day. Local dude made a kit like 2 years back, and it's still my favorite kit. The elastic is woven into the fabric, so the more it stretches, the more it grips. I really like the design, and its applies a much more even pressure on your thighs.
ohh nice, ive had them bookmarked since jaytron posted he bought it, i wanted the rainbow jawn but it sold out before i could get some
didnt love the colors they did last so im hoping the next one is doperer

D1.1 3G & 4G, so yeah with a backing strip. It is for the LA City license so I had to take a written exam on the code book, and for the practical I had to do both grooves within 8 hours + no wirewheel or grinder.
