That fork has a known history of cracking so I was pretty much just waiting for the day. It's been insanely flexy the last month but why replace things before they break, right?

Today I ordered the final parts to build a 650b wheelset for my Lynskey. It wants to ride moar dirt.

Picked up a Chris King lock ring that my LBS ordered and got my new to me rear wheel set up on my SS mtb. Messed with the spacers to get the chainline just about perfect. Learned a few new things from my buddy who works there and showed me various little tips and tricks. Got home, and @Flatulentfox had sent me a package!! Thru axle to QR kit for the front wheel! Got some stuff to do so I haven't swapped the rotor or tire over yet but I will tomorrow. Taking it for a test ride tonight so I hope I did everything correctly.

i didn't ride until march this year...and couldn't ride in july at all.
so all in all, i'm pleased.

Today I received and assembled a outdoor bike rack to relieve some of the clutter in my garage. Although it is designed to support five bikes, it will really accept only three. The design is a bit screwed up, since the freewheels and other hub parts hang up on the supports. This rack would be totally worthless for bikes with derailleurs. I'm not concerned, as the bikes I'm putting outside are my cheapies and I don't care if they get a bit scratched up.

Do this for about an hour pre-ride and you'll be good to go.

Can you put number 2 and 4 in facing forward?

Seems kinda wonky though anyway. A 26" wheel would hit even sooner/lower.

Well, I've come to the realization that this rack was meant to hold bikes by the front wheels with the rack orientation reversed as shown below:

cant fit 2 in the middle spaces if you put them in the other way? or you said you could take it apart too right? why not just do that and space it out

If you take it apart it gets all flexy sideways. It basically relies on the end pieces to provide lateral strength. With just one section by itself it tips over very easily. As to putting bikes in facing the other way, they hang up badly and the chains get pried off. Anyways, I'm fine with just three bikes, which greatly reduces garage clutter, plus I like my other bikes too much to leave them outside. By hanging up three bikes that used to sit on the floor, things are a lot better.

We have these racks around Phoenix and they're awful. Next to impossible to get the back wheel in and when you put the front wheel in you're basically stuck just locking the front wheel and hoping for the best. Drives me nuts!

Grrrrrr. Two wheelers have been my jones since I was 4 years old. Nothing else fills the void.

There's not enough room for that. If you look at the long shot photos, you'll see that the patio slab drops off to the driveway just beyond the ends of the bikes. i need the rest of the patio for outdoor grilling and such.

Did 28 miles with a mix of street and some singletrack along with a golf course. Had a great night with 50° temps and a light breeze. Fall is definitely in the air.
