did some math last night, last 8 months ive only averaged 14 hrs/wk at the store, so i added another reason to leave and officially gave notice at work this morning. i feel so liberated and im so excited to not have to get up at 3 am just so i can work for 4 hrs 1.5 days a week for a little more than minimum wage.

ive also decided to give completely different reasons for leaving to people that ask me, i.e.: moving to alaska, got a job at a stripclub, recruited as a pro bike racer, decided to be a drifter, got a job on wallstreet etc.

im open to suggestions, everybody there is so ****ing nosy im gonna run out of them when im back tomorrow

Bikes: 34 frames + 80 wheels

How about telling them you won the lottery and are retiring.

Tell them you've found a higher calling and ask them if they have a moment to talk about the Lord.

I'm considering getting a chinese Ti frame so I can have a normal sized headtube, and not have to deal with 1 in anymore.

Also doubles as a fantastic excuse for leaving a job.

If you run out of excuses just start memorizing and rattling off random forum threads.

Today I learned about 27.5+ mtb wheels and how people are throwing them on 29ers if there's clearance.

I think I need to find out if I have clearance and get crazy off pavement.

i think before scott came out wit their b+ bikes they did a bunch of testing and found that b+ 2.8" tires fit on much more bikes than they thought

Yeah, I'm currently running 2.25 and there's tons of clearance, I can't imagine I'd have issues with a 2.8.

There's a local shop renting the 2.8" wheelsets for $35/day. I might check it out and see how they perform. I've been wanting to build a wheelset, this might be a good opportunity.

Rode about 15 miles on the new track bike, fiddling with the fit. Got it to a pretty nice place. Realized I need new clipless shoes though.

The specialized 6fattie looks like a beast of a bike.

650b wheels, 3 in tires, looks super meaty.

Friend of mine did this with 27.5 on his Santa Cruz Heckler when that size wheel first came out. Bike takes 26" wheels. Found a Fox fork that would work, and there was enough clearance at the back end to make it work. Said it was the best handling bike he had ever ridden.

definitely do it!

they have roughly the same diameter of your current 29" wheels, but mtbs usually have plenty of vertical clearance its usually the width that would hang you up if anything

i can tell you though that 3" tires are the shiznittlebam snip-snap-snap

Yeah, I've read a few reviews of guys that have thrown 27.5 wheels on their scalpel and they say it's awesome. Only complaint seems to be the lower bottom bracket and smacking pedals on rocks more often, but I'm not too worried about that. Seems like it'd be perfect for my style of riding, not all that technical and just fun and flowy. I think it'll my project for the winter.

I also think I might convert the triple up front to a single since I never shift the front ring anyway and the big ring pretty much is just a bashguard.
