i just "finished" mapping out a 600k route thru CT/NY/NJ taking advantage of as many dirt roads as possible

still some google street viewing to go over and there are a number of spots to nail down for campsites, offroad detours, and resupply points

i feel like i could do this for a living, is that a job?

Today I was altar server at a funeral.

I do it to give back and to remind myself that I'm going to be in that wooden box some day.

31 year old guy cleaning his gun, shot himself in the femoral artery and bled out in less than two minutes. Nothing anyone there could do. No wife and kids thankfully, but I had spoken with him a few times and remember seeing him around.

This one was rough.

in related news, i almost just choked to death woofing down a giant spoonful of peanutbutter

Is this for a brevet?

lol, i wish it was that easy, i decided a spoonful about twice the size was sufficient, and i could eat it all at once.

4/10 would not recommend

not in an official capacity, just a route im planning. i think the route is a bit too squiggly to not have 400 control points and make into a real brevet or a permanent

it could be a bro-vet though, trying to form a group

feel free to scope it out though

Man, that would make an awesome brevet. And even as a bro-vet it would be worth doing.
Maybe a group ride next summer?
600 is my second favorite distance surpassed only by the 1000.
Thanks for this.

Today, I slept in until 8:30. Apparently a visit from the police and a letter from the complex got her rear end in gear and she did something about the dog. I woke up on my accord, and I rubbed my eyes, and looked at my phone. My dog was still asleep next to me. It felt pretty damn good honestly.

Then I took my single speed mountain bike down to the shop in my car, and proceeded to make a few changes to it. Local shop has a customer work stand and all the tools you would want to use, plus the knowledge of the mechanics. Pictures to be posted tomorrow, and a guarantee that not everyone will like it. Luckily you all can't post it to the JA thread. :)

Cruised around LA for about 30 miles today, rolled through some neighborhoods I don't usually go to. Always fun to explore. Traffic tho, many stop and go, much splitting lanes.

Also, going to a book signing: http://www.vromansbookstore.com/mark...ewski-nov-2015

Big bowl of cereal and watch old Warner Brothers cartoons somewhere on the internet. That is how I would do it.

I should hopefully have a CX by then and more PTO than i'm used to. I'm quite interested fo reals.

Today marks my first full week of commuting by bike which isn't a big deal to most but after spending 10+ hours in a car a week for the last 5 years I'm so ****ing happy.

commuting is good for the soul even if it magnifies the stupidity of drivers

this route is mostly on pavement so it doesnt necessitate knobby tires, though i did take advantage of as much dirt and gravel as possible. some fat slicks should be just fine

does that mean youll be joining for D2R2 next year too?

ps johnnytheboy i totally creeped you on the stravamachien.

^nice.

Continuing rehab on my surgically repaired knee. Stationary bikes are not as fun as real bikes. 2 weeks out from meniscus tear & clean up surgery. Hope to be back on the bike for good in <2 months.

My quads are for 2 different style of riders. Left is now a distance rider, right is a track sprinter. Amazing how much muscle is lost so quickly.

I've been avoiding the forums since my injury. I get angry when I see all you d*cks having fun and I can't play.

Totally. Every time I choose the bike over the car, I feel like I get a piece of my soul back.
