FYI, the bar is wide but short. I needed the bar ends to get adequate length in the drops for my hands, which is important because the hood position is near useless.

This is the bike I'm looking at...I get to go look at it on Saturday. It's not ideal as I'd like something that I could put wider tires on, but for $125 it'll make a decent city bike even if it doesn't see much touring.

Am nursing a sore shoulder and knee from a crash during bike polo. Real hoot and did make the goal but paying the price.

Not the smartest thing for me to do.

That's a good find for 125 bucks.

Today I stupidly rode the tarck bike, thought the rain had melted the ice rink down but it's still like50%ice. I'm sure I'll be meeting the pavement later tonight.

Mmmm vintage cdale aluminum.... it's a shame it's limited to 126mm spacing in the rear.

I know, I have no idea what I'm doing with vintage components, I'm not even sure if I can update the wheelset to 700c and still keep the 126mm spacing. I know I can't expand the spacing, so I might just leave the 27" tires on it and run it as is. That saddle has to go though. I'm also trying to picture what Pasela PTs would look like on it.

imo youre better off with a frame that has 130 spacing, its easier to get parts for so youre not dicking around with compromises for the life of the bike

Oh, my search for an ultimate touring/bike camping bike has not completed, but I'm still adding that cannondale to my stable.

I know Trek aluminium road bikes had 128mm rear ends for a couple of years, so they could go both ways. Dunno about C'dale.

126 isn't that big of a deal. It just means the world is not exactly your oyster when choosing rear wheels. I'm not even sure if 10sp or 11sp would be possible. Most I've put on a 126 wheel is 8-sp.

Finally mounted my Crane Bell (Maple) to my stem and it is ****** as all get out. Just needed some light machining (ground down a touch of brass) and a different stem bolt (mine was not threaded all the way through so just need a few extra threads) and it mounted great. Sounds awesome and the only issues I had was remounting lights which I did under the bars. The Fortified light is one they gave me to try out right about the time they were ramping up for their Aviator. I will probably be removing it soon because I will be going dynamo and won't need that as my back up.

Story of my sr2000. It was worth it.

From the looks of the drop outs, that's pre- series 3.0. Looking at the decals, that was among cannondale's first crop of road bikes. To put it at that, it was only late 3.0 series frames that had 128mm spacing. Then CAD happened.

Thinking instead of a 29er hardtail, I'll want a 27.5+. So many wheel sizes and things to consider with MTBs. It sucks.

i went back and forth on this for months.

"do i want a 29er with room for 27.5+ for bikepacking?"
"do i just want a regular 27.5 for a rowdy flickable hooligan machine?"
"do i just want a 29er to keep it a thoroughbred racemachine?"

im going with the hooligan machine. the most fun ive ever had on bikes was being a terrorist on my bmx bike so this will just take it to the next level

a LOT of 29ers can fit B+ tires, theres a whole bunch of **** on mtbr about people posting their tests and results and setups. good thing about this is you basically get two bikes
