Hmmm, that's a good point. Hardest part about w7.5+ it seems is that it's such a new concept, you are forced to buy new which makes my wallet sad. Grabbing a used 29er and just swapping wheels seems a lot easier.
Thanks for the tip, gonna research tonight |
dont forget that you can run 29+ on a fat bike ;)

I'm also looking into building a 27.5" SS hardtail or rigid MTB. Been rocking an early 00's Gary Fisher SS hardtail for about a year, that I picked up used super cheap just to see how I liked SS MTBing... and freaking love it. Don't even have a frame for the new rig yet, but just ordered this handlebar for it using a Christmas gift card I got: https://www.biketiresdirect.com/prod...-mtb-handlebar $60 for a sweet Ti bar from a cool local company? Hell yeah!

@cali_axela - someone posted that deal on here weeks ago and i immediately saved it to a wishlist, i want it but i have no use for it. but such a good deal tho. lol

if you do the 29er/B+ thing, look for something with common spacing (135/12x142), not the boost hubs. itl be easier to find stuff (i.e. boost 29 wheels dont exist unless someone built them for themselves). you can get a regular 27.5 wheelset, you dont need super wide rims (just dont go below 30mm with a 3" tire, IMO) |
Oh jesus my bike costs like $7.5k retail.

For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it? Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, `This man began to build, and was not able to finish.' (Luke 14:28-30) |

then i have one bike that i can use for long gravel tours with 29+, fat wheels for being fat and weird, and 5" tires for sand and snow thats like 4 bikes in one! and i can jusfity buying a fatbike! |
having never owned a fat bike before I couldn't pass up the surly deal a few weeks ago. I know the pugs is "old school" but it really appealed to me. extremely happy with it.

I'm super stoked on my Ritchey 27.5 HT... Love riding that thing.

WHERES THE ****ING GT?!??!??!??!! |
Proper old school fat bike. Maybe proto fat bike, since they didn't call 'em that back then...
Couple of rims laced to one hub! http://i1238.photobucket.com/albums/...ps68c66a1b.jpg I think I remember some triple wheels from some olde Iditabike article. Here's more pics of that bike: Clark Kent Fat Bike Slideshow by jerrysneck | Photobucket |

Checked out a 2015 rockhopper 29 today, the components were garbage but price was decent. Gonna sleep on the purchase and see how I feel.
