Thanks for the kind words, and sorry about your daughter. I just think, what would we have done without hospice? We couldn't have cared for her like they did. The nurse that took care of her most really took good care of her. She gave her a manicure and painted her nails just as she would have done them herself. She came to the funeral as well, and hugged me and my family as if we were her family. People like that only come along once in a lifetime, and she will never be forgotten by me or my family.

Alright, gotta stop with the sappy stuff. Damn onions making my eyes water when I am cutting them.

Did a nice fixed gear ride today. Legs felt good. Weather was really nice hitting the mid 60's. What a difference a day makes.

I don't think it is sappy. I think it is beautiful.

last night i woke up in the middle of the night and LOST MY **** because i thought i was at camp but couldnt find my tent or my headlamp or the fire

it took me a good 10 mins to calm down and retrace my steps to realize i was in my own bedroom

ive officially reverted to a wild animal.

Great pic! Makes me miss my college days, when I interned at UCSB and lived there for 10 weeks in the summer of 2009. All I did was party and ride, everywhere between Ventura and Solvang. Oh, I worked in the lab sometimes too ;).

Miss riding in SB, and that climb + OSM in particular!

TMonk 05-18-16 10:01 AM

Last day of a training block before I take it easy till next week, so I decided to flog myself:

3 hr tempo ride, middle 2:30 covered 47.9 mi with 3.5k elevation, good for ~19 mph on 211 watts AP. Weighed in at 151 lbs this AM prior.

Up next: sleeping in, and relaxing. Def. a couple fun mtb rides.

motrheadsroadie 05-18-16 11:19 AM

i had never climbed that road before. that hill sucked.

Mumonkan 05-18-16 01:03 PM

today i ran. on purpose. and it wasnt from the cops.

first time in 8 years, 2 mile trail run. feelsgoodman.gif

SpeshulEd 05-18-16 01:06 PM

Hey, I rowed today...trying to work the upper body a little bit, figured I could start rowing one day a week.

Being able to adjust chainline via bottom bracket is pretty neat. Like .5-1mm is all, but it's still neat.

Regulatori 05-18-16 01:15 PM

You rowed before?
I remember doing it for the first time and feeling great. Then the next morning I woke up and could barely raise my arms/had enough arm strength to shave/wash my face.

TMonk 05-18-16 01:40 PM

competitive rowers make excellent cyclists, there's plenty of examples on a local and national/intl level. I imagine the opposite is true as well.

Mumonkan 05-18-16 01:55 PM

rowing is dope, ive never been so worked out from anything before or ever again, including bikes.

SpeshulEd 05-18-16 02:54 PM

Yeah, I bought one of the Concept 2's a year or two before I got back into bikes. I never used it after getting back on the bike, it's just been sitting in the corner for the last 3-4 years. However, my upper body strength is a joke right now so I thought I'd give it a try again.

I did 15 minutes last week and 30 this week. Will probably go for 45 next week and hang with that for awhile. I'm pretty awful at it and only average 120w-130w, which seems pretty low. It's a completely different workout than the bike, thats for sure.

Today I put my brown bike on a serious diet. It lost 1 lb., 1.62 oz. (504 g.)

Can you see where it shed the fat?

Wait are your tires that heavy? Aside from slightly different tires I cannot see a big difference, maybe I am losing my sight?

Woohoo! I've been doing yoga once a week as well, which seems to be helping as well.

Yep, tires. The Specialized Fat Boy slicks (45mm) looked the part and offered nutso cornering grip. But after a while the honeymoon was over. They rolled great once you got 'em going, but getting up to speed an hills were too much effort. I got some Compass 35mm ultralights and the difference is jumbo. They seem to suck up the bumps just fine too.

and yoga is good for everything!

stepping outside the hotel room at the Red Agave in Sedona and doing my morning routine at the foot of Bell Rock during sunrise was sublime.
