Today I will be riding fixed to work. That is all. |
tom ritchey rules but the parts from china he puts his name should never be compared to cnc'd aluminum from wherever in georgia it comes from.

The state of Georgia actually has a decent amount of aerospace engineering companies and Georgia Tech has one of the top AE programs. Thompson does lots of stuff for aerospace as well as custom design, testing and process engineering. I hear that they do tours. rex615 would probably like to check it out. Made in 'Murica by good 'ol boys! http://www.lhthomson.com/wp-content/...ufacturing.jpg |

LH Thompson has a pretty nice facility in Macon Georgia. Bike parts are only a small part of what they do.

That does sound very interesting, I must look into it. Thanks for the heads up.

I just wish Thomson made a setback post that doesn't look weird.

I like the way it looks with the kink in the post.
I have a Masterpiece setback on my race bike, and a straight Elite on the MTB. Rock Lobster has a Ritchey WCS carbon 3k weave, thing is also very nice. Matches the fork too. |
i think they look good when theyre on the right bike

Will do. I'll be out on holiday till after new year's and then traveling for work. Chicago in January (brrr).
I would love to ride the Silver Comet again and have lunch at Frankie's in Rockmart. Sadly, Slaughter's Store has closed too, leaving a huge hole in some of our routes way out west. |
Killer ride today: 5.25hrs, 91 miles, 3000+kj. Puts me at slightly over 15hrs of riding time for the week. Nice!!!
Early in my ride I saw jacobversus riding in the opposite direction towards Del Mar. It was right on the bridge that separates Solana and Del Mar. I yelled "Bikeforumz!!!" pretty loud, but I don't think that he heard me. He was wearing earbuds. |

Frankie's is closed. :( Some of my friends ran into Frankie waitressing in a small country restaurant in Hiram.
Sadly, Slaughter's Store has closed too, leaving a huge hole in some of our routes way out west. We went by there this summer and remember Frankie's was closed that day so we went on ahead and had lunch in Cedartown (IIRC). My son was bemoaning missing out on their excellent eggplant (melanzane alla Parmigiana) and you could even find decent beer there. |
Today I realized my saddle was like an inch too low. Did this **** just gradually slip down into the frame**********

Now that I lube them with carbon assembly paste (thanks Scrod) I don't have the issue, but the mark is still useful when the bike has to go in a car and the seat is removed. Makes putting them back together a bit less fiddly. |

I have had a couple that used to do that (better than having them become frozen in place, I guess.) I mark them with a magic marker or some nail polish to monitor any movement.

Probably. It seems like something that you would notice on a short time scale.

Binge-watched four hours of "Duck Dynasty." Good lord, that four hours of my life I'll never get back. At least I was getting paid to do it…

(Saturday)I rode for the first time in three weeks and got a solid 20 miles in. Ran into an acquaintance on a fat bike group ride and actually got to clean my bike and re-lube my chain before having to return to civilian life. Twas nice.
