Today I hate Shimano because of this...

Did that pop out of a shifter/brake lever?

Nagrom_ 12-08-15 02:35 PM

Yeah, and it looks like one of the washers is missing.

SCK 12-08-15 05:51 PM

I went on a 28 mile ride this morning which was mostly uneventful. However, I realize I should have eaten something ahead of the ride -- I was pretty much running on fumes by the time I got home. I usually eat something/take some sort of snack along (or bring money). Lesson learned.

Yep. You got it. Into the abyss of the garage floor. Heard it hit the ground too, chased the sound but nada.

I had a part from a donor but have little patience for miniature things like the insides of watches and anything that requires a needle nose pliers. Few things upset my peace nowadays but for some reason this made me want to fix the whole situation with a large hammer. Probably need more sleep.

Try fishing for it with a magnet?

Nagrom_ 12-08-15 10:33 PM

If it were magnetic.

Were you in a rural area? You could always cruise by a 7/11 and grab a Reese's or somethin'.

I guess that would help. Today I started working from home. Feels like I just did a slam dunk.

Not in a rural area, but most places frown upon theft. I didn't bring cash or my debit card. It was more or less a morning filled with minor mistakes. The upside is I made sure to swap my saddle bag over -- I was prepared for that anyway.

Rode a Trek 920 and C'dale Slate at Mellow Johnny's in Tejas. Interesting bikes for sure. I kind of liked those wider tires on the road but the lefty slight suspension fork is something to get used too. I was sad they didn't any Cielo's or Moots in my size built up but alas it happens. Maybe before I leave they might have something. If anyone knows any good places for quality fixed gears in Austin I am all ears. Always curious to try something new.

Stuffed full of tex-mex and chillin'

Great deal and congrats!

I've worked from a spare bedroom for 8 years and will only go back to cubicle hell if forced. Have you worked from home before? It took some time for me to get disciplined and the pendulum swung both ways, from hardly getting anything done due to distractions all the way to working from the moment I got up until late at night.

One thing that helped me is getting up, going through a morning routine and then heading out for coffee, riding the bike/run, going to the church for some quiet time or whatever. The point for me is to get out into the world a bit and then when I come home it feels like I "Went to work." I have also developed a strict rule about closing the laptop at 5:00 PM sharp unless there is a critical issue. I cook, have dinner with my children, etc., and can always do some more work later, but that personal time with my family is strictly kept.

It's nice to be able to run a load of laundry or stick something in the oven at 2:00 PM while "at work." :thumb:

I wish I could work from home for like half the year and then the other half in the office. After about six months, I tend to get a bit stir crazy no matter what environment I'm in.

Division 1
Fast Folks

Those were the two shops I visited in Austin and enjoyed both.

Thanks! I worked from home for a bit when I was freelancing some years ago, but I was also making peanuts then compared to my current job. The morning routine sounds like a great idea. I've been trying to figure out what to do with the extra 1.5-2 hours a day I'm gaining by cutting out commute time. Ride bikes is the obvious answer, I guess.

Part of the answer, at least.

Get some sleep, cook actual nutritious meals... the possibilities are endless.
