It's common nowadays not to prescribe antibiotics unless there is evidence of an active infection in otherwise healthy people. Exceptions are for those who are immunocompromised in some way and likely to get an infection. Treating a condition which doesn't exist doesn't make sense and can do more harm than good. Hospitals don't like to talk about it much but there is a big problem with antibiotic resistant "superbugs" that have developed because of overuse of antibiotics. These are becoming a bigger and bigger problem outside of hospitals. MRSA is a perfect example - really nasty and a developed because of the overuse of antibiotics. |

Which one ?
edit- On second look, the pricing actually isn't great. Might even be a little cheaper to order from the UK. Good thing I didn't jump the gun. |
@TimothyH
Surgery weakens the body and opens a pathway for bacteria, and there's a lot of nasty stuff in your mouth just waiting to get inside. The antibiotics are given to increase the immune system's ability to combat this attack. Even when I had a prostate biopsy, I was given antibiotics. Maybe you are confusing the overuse of antibiotics to combat general conditions, but where surgery is concerned I think you are totally wrong on this. |

Pre Cursa. There's a seller on eBay with a bunch of frames priced pretty cheap, and I've been itching to build something I can finally take to the track.

I had my wisdom teeth out in 3 separate procedures. First was emergency, then one more came out a few years later, then the last two. Never prescribed antibiotics for any of them. Sounds like you have either an infection, dry socket, or both.
|
Oof, yeah I just checked the shipping estimate on their site. No thanks.

Dudn't matter what you ride. You have a dog. That means more than your bike. Hope everything gets worked out. I have a small lil feller myself, not too much going on in the brains department, but how can you not love em? Sending some doge hugs and a bone for your pup.

Today I leave for Tokyo. I may check out Blue Lug if I'm in the area -- I'm a huge fan of their builds and it'd be cool to check them out in person...

Maybe you are confusing the overuse of antibiotics to combat general conditions, but where surgery is concerned I think you are totally wrong on this. Due to the increasing prevalence of bacteria which are resistant to treatment by currently available antibiotics, clinicians should consider carefully whether treating 12 healthy patients with antibiotics to prevent one infection is likely to do more harm than good. Given that this is from the National Institutes of Health I don't think it right to call the doctor an idiot. Muffin Man might just be one of the unlucky 8.3%. We don't even know what he has yet. Lets wait to hear what he says when he gets back from the doctor.Antibiotics to prevent complications following tooth extractions. - PubMed - NCBI I had a dry socket twice. It sucks. The first time I didn't listen to the doctor about physical exertion and rode my bike to work the next day. I thought I could just ride easy. The second time I rested for days and got one anyway. Can't win. |
I just had a wisdom tooth pulled this morning. No antibiotics either.
All this talk about infections and dry socket and such is somewhat unsettling, but at least it is entertaining. |
I got all four done at once. I was instructed to gargle salt water several times a day. No smokes and no brews allowed for a week or so.
|
I had mine pulled out my senior year of HS, I think I just had to gargle salt water and get high on prescribed drugs that week. It was a good time.
|
I got a prescription for Vicodin, but I hope I don't need it because i have a lot of work to do. I was out all week and I am behind.
I should have scheduled this better :) |

I wonder if hard liquor and edibles are allowed? |
Hard liquor is usually better, they usually say no beer because of the yeast in beer. Edibles probably alright once you clear the solid food hurdle.
|
I had all 4 of mine out - took about a week to get back on my feet and eating normally again. Swallowed a lot of blood which was super gross
|
today i had a really close call on the ride home from work, and it was totally my fault. be safe out there everybody.

Edibles + vicodin are the reason I had to be driven home from a friends 2 nights after extraction, haha. I wouldn't recommend it. Sleeping for 14 hours was nice though.
sorry mom and dad |
