Actually, you are supposed to start taking antibiotics about 3 days prior to the surgery for them to have any prophylactic value. It's like not putting on a condom until after you've had sex. Anyways, I'm just a whiny old man who likes to rant about things, so you needn't pay me any attention.

i usually get sick around christmas, so this year i'll start taking some biaxin around december 22.....

Whatever, dude, I really don't give a rat's ass.

Dannihilator 09-23-15 09:04 PM

Today I got in 40 miles.

Guize. Wisdom teeth/tooth extraction is NOT SURGERY!!!! It is a simple procedure often done under a small amount of local anesthetic and some nitrous. The same could be said for a vasectomy. Done in an office, you go home the same day, there are some small incisions and local anesthetic is used. No antibiotics for that right? Trust me, I know about wisdom teeth and vasectomies. Had both done. Winning.

I wanna get snipped but I'm worried about having issues after with the boys and bike riding.

Thanks, I use Kroil and it has had it applied for months with many miles of riding added. The two options left to try are dry ice and sodium hydroxide Sheldon has a good list.

Take it easy for a few days until the swelling goes down, you'll be fine. My doctor told me to basically not move for the first 24 hours following the procedure and I believe this to be super good advice. PM me if you have other questions.

The protocol for certain surgeries where I work is to administer IV antibiotic within one hour of incision time so it's at its peak during the procedure. But not all surgeries require pre-op antibiotics, and tooth extraction only requires oral prophylactic antibiotics if you have a prosthetic joint or heart valve.

Yea. That's why my wife doesn't like me watching cable news. She doesn't want to hear the ranting. Actually I think it is just pithy comentary:D

No issues. Get it done on a Friday and take the day off of work. Make sure you have bags of frozen peas and corn. Helps if you have a spouse or roommate to help you with stuff. I had it done Friday morning. Spent the rest of the day on the couch with snacks in my belly and bags on my sack. Hour on and off of each. Put em back in the freezer so you always have a frozen bag ready to go. Spend the rest of the weekend just taking it easy. By Sunday I was up and walking fine. Monday back to work and everything was pretty much normal. A little swelling but aside from that, good to go.

If you follow the directions given by the Urologist, you should be fine. Take a week off of the bike and you will be good to go.

I just bought an online fixie bike without breaks, how many whip skids can I do on my ratio? Also, who makes the deepest rim and how much tension for my chain? 5 or 6 tensions?

Mumonkan 09-24-15 10:46 AM

how could i know any of that without knowing how many candence you have?

rex615 09-24-15 10:58 AM

^^^

Scrodzilla 09-24-15 11:32 AM

Today the shop got a call from a fixie foo needing a new chain. Here's how it played out:

me: Yarrrrr...Retrogression! (I often answer the shop phone like a pirate or using some other crazy voice, which is why Angie usually answers the phone)
foo: Oh hey, you're open. I need a chain.
me: Ok, is it a fixed gear bike?
foo: Of course. If I bring it in can you throw a new chain on?
me: Yeah, If I'm not already in the middle of something major when you come in, I can do it while you wait.
foo: Well what if you are in the middle of something?
me: I'll make you walk down the hill and buy me two slices of pizza from Luigi's.
foo: What?
me: Or a California burrito from Ray's.
foo: Huh? Wait...huh?
me: Are you over 21?
foo: No
me: Well, you can try to shoplift two 32oz bottles of High Life from Idaho Market but don't mention us if you get caught.
foo: Uh, alright?
me: What time are you coming in?
foo: Around noon, is that good?
me: We don't really take appointments but if you need a tooth pulled or something, there's a dentist around the corner.
foo: Man, I uh...haha...I mean...
me: See you later?
foo: Yeah, around noon. Thanks.
me: Yarrrrrrr!

I love my job.

TejanoTrackie 09-24-15 11:56 AM

I should buy a plane ticket to Sandy Eggo just so I can get the full Scrod experience first hand.

TejanoTrackie 09-24-15 12:06 PM

I just got back from my dentist after the second failed attempt to get a permanent crown seated w/o it breaking with a loud cracking sound. The first time I thought my tooth had broken and the dentist said this had never happened before. They ordered a new crown made with the same impression with the same result. They blamed the lab, but I insisted that they take a new impression. It was a very tight fit and I believe this overstressed the very brittle zirconia material that they now use for dental crowns. This probably would not have occured with a gold crown, which is much softer. This is no big deal for me as a retired person, but would be a real hassle for someone who has to repeatedly take time from work to go to the dentist.

This makes me wish I called instead of emailed with my question this morning, too. Sounds like a much more fun and rewarding experience.

Huffandstuff 09-24-15 12:59 PM

Scrod needs the shatter proof 32s.

Nagrom_ 09-24-15 01:51 PM
