Thankfully, I've never had any issues swimming there.

it's even shut down right now because of high bacteria levels.....

Sweet yamaguchi BTW. Is it custom for you?

Not custom to me. Just the stock geometry.

Wide is comfy.

Old straight bar frames FTW.

If you are serious, a great place to to look for Klunker frames is at Rat Rod Bikes - A Community of Custom Vintage Bicycle Builders

You'll have no problem finding an old Schwinn, Worksman, etc etc. And not stupid prices. The crowd has a mellow C&V vibe. Very helpful.

If you are going to build a bike and need a rear hub, I have a brand new Shimano CB-E110 with flange holes for 11 to 12 gauge spokes. PM me if you want it, I'll send it to you just for the postage. Contrary to the common beliefs about CBs, these modern Shimanos have no drag (Spin longer than a freewheel by FAR), don't fade, and modulate fantastically. Their performance is pretty much perfect.

Looks like I'm going to the mash premiere this Sunday.

TheRealFaux 09-11-15 10:48 PM

But it's on Saturday.

Today I scored a Solaris fleece jacket at the used clothing store for $14. It has a windproof lining in the front and a phone pocket with headphone port on the chest - perfect for riding in the cool weather. Looks like it's brand new.

Terrible pic because its dark outside, but... Is the rack supposed to be over the front hub? lol

Edit:

Also made my front brake explode. Figured out how to put that back together, and it works better than it did before, so I'm considering it a success.

Today I finally remembered the password for my pedalroom account.

Making quick progress. Putting down beads is becoming less of a struggle.

^ Looking great!

Today I'm recovering from an intense century ride on Saturday at Mammoth. It "only" had ~6k of climbing, but was at between 6k - 8k elevation and I'm a sea level boy, so that made it pretty tough. Still managed to squeak in at under 6 hours elapsed time so I'm happy.

Unkle Rico 09-14-15 02:37 PM

I was there too! Brutal ride, I was on track for 5.5hrs but my IT bands told me other wise around mile 80 :crash:

Nice, yeah that's around when I started having some slight knee issues and took it a bit easy to avoid them getting worse (which luckily worked). We must have had pretty similar pacing. Here's my activity: Bike Ride Profile | Mammoth Gran Fondo near Mammoth Lakes | Times and Records | Strava

Today I am both sad and happy at the same time. This weekend I sold my awesome townie that I built up last year - was very sad to see it go as it was my first ever build. The good news is that my LBS spotted a phenomenal deal for me on a carbon bike from another customer of his that happens to be my size and I still came out $100 ahead after selling the townie. Unbelievable! Ultegra to boot! Already enjoying the ride tremendously.

long ass stem ftw!

is that a wald basket? i never really liked the way they connected to the fork dropouts and extended so far forward. I bet you could trim the struts to bring it in closer, or plonk down the dough to get a nice porteur rack instead.

Mumonkan 09-14-15 04:14 PM

holy **** that rack is huge! it looks like it fits a pizza box, does it?

TMonk 09-14-15 06:02 PM

Just got home from our backpacking trip... I'm stiff and sore all over!

For the remainder of the week, I will be taking it easy on the bike and re-setting my body. Starting next week: increase volume in preparation for El Tour de Tucson, which will carry through into base prep for next year. Shortly after "El Tour" (Nov 21), will drop the volume and start to focus on threshold work - I want to start out next Socal criterium season with a bang! Also, if I can manage to stay fit and uninjured, earn my cat2 upgrade points.

Unkle Rico 09-14-15 06:06 PM

Today I completely took apart my BMC and put it up for sale on CL along with my Zipps
