Not buying anything as of now since I just bought a Look frame last week -- I ride the BMC the least and its the most valuable bike I have, sooo.. Yeah. Moneyz is Moneyz :thumb:

Unkle Rico 09-14-15 06:35 PM

Which Zipps? I've been thinking about some race wheels...

Took a new route to school, being passed by a bus through a 10% grade chicane first thing in the morning really wakes you up.

Then I biked home with this semesters textbooks, along with my multiple locks. It was the first time I've really felt the difference in acceleration because of weight which was pretty cool.

I hope the winter is tame so I can bike to school more. I'm thoroughly enjoying it so far.

Today I am completely sold on the new cranks.

I find bus drivers to be some of the rudest drivers on the road. They never give you room, they always cut you off, they pull out in front of you...both school and public transit, completely infuriates me.

And they pass close as hell most of the time. that nice old panic-inducing wall of metal.

In my city they have the right of way on the road, and they fully utilize this power. The driver could have given me 10 seconds to get to the flatter straighter part of the road instead of passing me in a corner. The best part was that I ended up passing the bus at the next stop, so passing me in a really terrible spot to pass really gained nothing for the bus in the end.

I said pass alot

is that a wald basket? i never really liked the way they connected to the fork dropouts and extended so far forward. I bet you could trim the struts to bring it in closer, or plonk down the dough to get a nice porteur rack instead.

Wald 257 in black. If I make the struts any shorter, the front of the rack would tip down. I have a 120mm stem flipped to +5deg with a spacer underneath, and the rack just clears the front tire. This rack was cheap, so I'm gonna keep it for now I guess.

holy **** that rack is huge! it looks like it fits a pizza box, does it?

The front of the rack is in line with the wheel at the furthest point out. I could almost fit everything I own onto this rack. Its 20.5" wide, and 13" deep D:

While down in Ocean City, Md this year I made it a priority to outrun the busses and was successful in doing so.

TenSpeedV2 09-14-15 11:09 PM

I absolutely hate playing leap frog with the busses here on my commute to work. I just try to stay ahead of them if at all possible. One time I even pulled some Premium Rush ish and whipped around them into the lane (safely) and in my mind, the different scenarios of my secret path played out. LOL. :)

Today I drafted behind a semi-trailer on a service road that was training a student for a CDL. I was on my geared bike in a 52 x 11 and saw 56 mph on my computer. It reminded me of Breaking Away.

Spin to win. Nice. I doubt I've ever topped 45ish on flat ground, even drafting.

Today I helped send off a few coworkers who are heading out on a long tour back to the lower 48. I rode a tandem with a coworker up the pass and it was awful. Took twice as long to summit and it was 30 degrees. Whiskey shots at the summit certainly helped though! My stoker was fearless and we crushed everyone bombing down back into town. I don't think I would ever tour on a tandem.

Hope you had a good trip. Post pics. Have you had your pack adjusted properly? I am pretty new to backpacking and had friends laugh at me for how poorly adjusted my pack was recently. They helped me get it fit much better and I am way more comfortable now. I probably looked like the hiking equivalent of a dude on a Thruster F**ie.

this is the part that annoys me about busses, generally they have this urge to cut you off going 1mph faster than you are, then stop in front of you at the stop, and you have to go into the lane of traffic to get around them, leapfrogging over and over and over again.
how bout you just let off the gas for half a second to let us go by the stop before you pull over, and youll never see us again.

It isn't isolated to places where buses have right of way. Bus drivers are the same no matter where I've ridden. Long Island, Boston and Chicago suburbs, mountain roads in Vermont - whether the bus is municipal or commercial, it doesn't matter.

A friend of mine was killed while riding on the country roads here in Georgia by a tour bus driver who turned too close.

Cyclist struck, killed by charter bus in Bartow County | www.ajc.com

Bus drivers are the absolute worst for cyclists. Even taking the lane doesn't work. They will just run into you.

Last week, I was stopped at a light with one and we both took off at the same speed. We were nose to nose when the guy lays on his horn because he had to make a stop. Scared the **** out of me. Needless to say, he got the finger and a wtf!?
