You never posted this pic before. At least not that I remember. This is a cool looking hangout spot.

I need one bad.

Today I hit the ground pretty hard racing cross. It was pretty funny, didn't rip my bibs and still (hopefully?) placed well, I'll take it. I just wish the spot I crashed at wasn't on pavement

Oh yes, we def. have a lot of good holes in central tx :p

Seriously though, there are a lot of jewels in this region. Places one would not expect to exist here. One of my favorites:

while i approve of anyone thats stoked to be out riding bikes and stuff, it kinda makes me laugh that people still think mash so cool

the part i saw with them shredding on cross bikes with Karlthefog looked cool tho, but thats cuz of my offroad bent and infatuation with fog

SpeshulEd 09-09-15 11:11 AM

I don't understand the point of wide flat bars and then still holding the bars next to your stem.

this is what made me laugh, the dude with the widest bars had his hands closest to the stem

That video was funny, here's a bunch of clips of us pedaling real fast down a hill, get hyped.

It's a Preserve so it's well kept and monitored by the city/state. Weekdays are the best time as it's typically like what the image displays. Weekends are a cluster ****.

Hamilton Pool Preserve. There used to be a cool ass off-road bike course on private property very close by, but sadly the land was sold for urban expansion.

Finally got to start practice making beads with the TIG welders today. I'll just say that learning to TIG for the first time on 1/16" aluminum pieces is hard.

johnnytheboy 09-09-15 04:17 PM

franswa i was afraid of that...i know 2 people that have gone there and they've both gotten e. coli.....

At first, aluminum is tricky to weld, it hardly changes appearance before it melts and then it conduct heat very quickly, so it sucks all the heat away from the puddle.

Stick with it, you'll get the hang of it in no time.

 So far I tend to overheat and get a flat bead but I'm getting it. The aluminum is just so damn unforgiving, never mind that it's thin and will melt on you so easily. Hey, this is why my teacher is having us learn on aluminum first.

Any idea what brought on the wide riser/mountain type bar deal to fixed gear riders? I've been watching a few of the older videos (and other random fixed gear/city riding vids) and it seems there is a huge range of different bar styles...bulls, drops, straight bars, etc..
Looking at the new Mash video, 90% of the riders have Boss Hogg bullhorn hood ornament handlebars...any idea where this trend came from? (even cyclecross still use drops)
Seems a bit odd to use wider bars on a city bike when having to maneuver through traffic/tight spots.

I do get a kick out of the stem hold though...it's like buying an extra large steering wheel for your car but holding around the center hub.

If you gots a big azz steering wheel you get mo' big azz bi-ches.

Huffandstuff 09-09-15 10:23 PM

Wide handlebars in theory are supposed to help with climbing since you open your lungs and have ample leverage to push and pull.

In reality it's all about buying 800mm bars and looking super tight when you clutch your stem.
