If I used alloy nips, I could have had a sub 1400g wheelset for $550 after labor costs for tensioning and truing.

nice, pacentis make great lightweight wheels, the 650bs i built with db14s came to 1334

what hubs and spokes did you use?

Yup.

What hubs did you use? Thats really light for alloy wheels.

I used Soul Kozak M-Netic hubs, and Sapim Laser spokes with Sapim Polyax brass nips. 20/24, and I could have lost like 40g if I used alloy nips.

super light bike hub store hubs(210g/79g), the 650B rims (420g) saved a good amount of weight too. i forget if that included the skewers or not (BHS Ti, 43g)

28h too.

Damn.

My hubs are 194g/70g
700c SL23 are supposed to be 430g

Idk where you got such a drastic weight saving...

That makes a lot of sense

Mumonkan 11-18-15 09:16 PM

its also only an 82g difference overall, not a huge difference even if it was that much in any one wheel

Today I woke up at 638 am. Why so early? Dog barking, again. I called the police for the third time this week. I just submitted my note to the office that they requested me to do. I am a good tenant, super quiet, my neighbors all like me quite a bit. I pay my rent on time every month. No issues from me. I am suffering though, suffering from a lack of sleep. I managed to fall back asleep this morning for about an hour or so but that is it. I just got off the phone with the police again after inquiring about what it takes to get an actual noise violation citation for this woman. The officer said that it was at the responding officers discretion. So each time I called, if a different officer came out, no citation would probably be issued.

I am at a total loss as to what to do. I have added a third fan, quite a noisy one to be honest, to the bedroom. It didn't help because I still heard the barking this morning. My neighbor really doesn't care. The complex doesn't seem to care as they are making all kinds of excuses for her. I am hoping that the police will resolve this issue but I am unsure of when it will happen. I want her to come home to a $300 citation on her door. Maybe that will get something in motion while she figures out that she has an issue on her hands.

In the mean time, I am tired, not just tired but mentally tired. I go to bed now with anxiety and I end up laying there for at least 30 minutes while I try to relax and get what little sleep I can. It is taking a toll on my mental health and well being at both of my jobs. I am relying heavily on caffeine now to keep me going. I could have fallen asleep at my second job last night. I work in a hospital handling all types of medications, from Aspirin to chemotherapy. I need to be alert and well rested so that the patients in the hospital don't die.

Nagrom_ 11-19-15 09:48 AM

Just burn the complex down at this point.

Mumonkan 11-19-15 10:01 AM

+1

I like the advice.

Sometimes in life you need to just cut your losses and move on. I had some bad neighbors in an apartment complex that were harassing and even threatening me. When the the complex management did nothing, I just broke my lease, lost my security deposit, and moved to another complex. Eventually when it became apparent that my job would be long term, I assumed a mortgage on a small house, so that I could be done with apartment living and put a bit more distance between myself and the rest of humanity.

TenSpeedV2 11-19-15 11:20 AM

I have considered that but right now in my life, apartment living is kind of where I am stuck. The complex is nice, in a great part of town with easy access to just about everything I need. From a mall to grocery stores to Target, restaurants, etc it is all within a 2 mile radius. There is a nice bike path that takes me closer to the next town and to work. The apartment is a nice 2 bedroom with a walk in closet, decent kitchen and before this dog, it was a nice quiet place to live. I really do like it here and don't feel that I should have to move because someone doesn't have control over their pet.

The shop I go to counts it as a major wheel true instead of as a wheel build, so its $30 a wheel instead of $75.

cDiff Notorious 11-19-15 12:19 PM

So expensive, the LBS close to my house charges $35 per wheel build and $20 per true. I might inquire around Christmas if they'll let me do the same thing you did.

TejanoTrackie 11-19-15 12:22 PM

Muffin Man lives in the high rent district.

cali_axela 11-19-15 01:07 PM

Ha, you don't even want to know what they charge for wheel builds at the fancy bike shops here in SF then.

I'd see an attorney. For a couple of dollars she gets a certified letter from a lawyer pointing out the relevant laws and the risk she faces if she continues to do nothing.

Not that you are actually going to take her to court but it seems like she really isn't motivated and it might be time to take it up a notch.

Muffin Man 11-19-15 01:37 PM

Bay area is expensive, man

Maybe try to force the complex to find you another unit away from the noise? Honestly though if it's affecting your life so negatively, I would be actively looking for a new place to live. Life is too short to deal with such agony. Control what you can in the universe and let the rest blow on by.

Today I found a good deal on set of used Miche Pistards I'll probably pick up tomorrow.

Now the questions is to gumwall or not to gumwall?!

johnnytheboy 11-19-15 06:38 PM

Id go to law school and become a lawyer!

TenSpeedV2 11-19-15 11:53 PM

The complex did offer me another apartment in the building. There is a huge rent difference and I would be responsible for it. That puts it out of my range for sure. I am going to meet with the on site manager tomorrow to see where we are with the situation. I have added the township police department on speed dial to my phone.

Today I rode my geared bike for the first time in a few weeks. Felt really good.

Scrodzilla 11-20-15 12:44 AM

Today I sold my Look frameset, justifying the new Bare Knuckle.
